Our income tax is the second biggest (after bureaucratic regulation) obstacle to economic growth in the United States.

"When it comes to getting pro-growth tax reform done this year, the only real opportunities are at the state level," said Patrick Gleason, director of state affairs for Americans for Tax Reform, the Washington-based anti-tax lobbying group.

Our piece about DIY weapons garnered much attention on the social sites and here’s another idea you might find handy…

Toy inventor John Austin released Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction 2 (Chicago Review Press) this past October. This awesome sequel to the Mini Weapons series includes over 30 new mini weapons with which to terrorize your office with. Here's an excerpt from the press release:

"All the projects in Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction 2 are built from inexpensive, commonly kept items: binder clips, playing cards, rubber bands, markers, clothespins and discarded packaging materials. The projects - modeled after real-life gadgetry - range from "sidearms" and "weapons in disguise" to "villain mini weapons" and "surveillance and intel" and cost mere pennies to assemble. This easy-to-follow primer also features plans to construct periscopes, bionic ears, grappling hooks and code wheels. plus, each project includes a supply and tool list, italicized safety tips and step-by-step instructions supplemented by clearly marked, illustrative diagrams"

I managed to get my hands on a copy and made the Grappling Hook Gun; the project was easy to follow and my project came together in under 30 minutes (including the time it took to snap a few pictures). My grappling hook went about 20 feet and I'm sure it could travel further with a few minor tweaks! So if you're reading this while sitting bored at your desk, take a look around you. If you're surrounded by un-used rubber bands, pen caps, and markers, perhaps it's time for you to assemble your own office supply arsenal!

FBI figures show more Americans are killed with hammers, clubs, hands and feet than rifles
(NaturalNews) A new set of data from the FBI shows what tens of millions of Americans already know but that Washington and other elitist politicians refuse to acknowledge: That for the past several years more people have been killed with clubs and hammers...

Never too broke to fund anti-Bill of Rights programs…

Earlier this month President Barack Obama signed a bipartisan bill into law which would offer $10 million in grants for states to start taking DNA from suspects upon arrest. Wisconsin was already moving to collect DNA from suspects upon arrest, but at $7.2 million, the price tag for the project was regarded as high. It is not clear when states can apply for the newly allocated federal funds, or how much money Wisconsin would receive, but state law enforcement agencies say any amount would help reduce the initiative's cost.

Three most important words to remember when being interrogated:  I don’t know!

The Parting Thought- Can we undo damage that Congress has done?

Can We Rebuild the Middle Class or are we simply better off preparing for the worst?

The prosperity of the middle class has been declining since the 1970s.  Countless rules, regulations, an insane tax system which rewards special interests, off-shoring of our jobs has threatened our very way of life leaving America with the largest gap between the haves and the have- nots since the Great Depression and it doesn’t appear things will improve anytime soon.

The massive indebtedness of our country even threatens our great grand children, although some economists feel there is nothing wrong with deficit spending (at least in the short term).

It’s estimated we’ve lost 10-15% of our middle class and unless we reverse course in such areas as decent wage jobs, affordable medical care (Obamacare is not the answer as it’s making everything more complex and expensive) and retirement programs, 30% more of the middle class will become low income within the next few years.

It should be apparent by now we cannot trust those who got us into mess, will get us out as amply demonstrated by the fiscal cliff nonsense.  You’ll need to rely on yourself.

You don’t have to be rich to get prepared. Focus on skills and double up on groceries as you’re able and you’ll be light years ahead of people who have a pallet of food in their garage but no manual can opener to get them open.

Self-Reliance vs. Bureaucratic “solutions”: I define survival/preparedness/self-reliance, in part, as the ability for my family to survive and possibly thrive during periods of civil breakdown without having to depend on government agencies or non-government agencies. This will be as a result of a combination of our family preparedness and because of relationships with friends who have also prepared in advance.  We’ve repeatedly seen how one bureaucrat can destroy the effectiveness of dozens of competent first responders.

A strong middle class is what built this country, not Congress or the very wealthy.  This is where our priorities should be, not with spending $8 billion for a lame Homeland Security.
