So they're using every excuse they can to keep us fearful and willing to give up our freedoms and privacy for a government security blanket.
The mainstream media is playing right along - causing panic with their shock stories and endlessly bringing up the terror threat.
How did the government become the enemy of freedom?
American
ancestors perceived the relationship between the individual in society and his
government. Americans of that time believed that the preservation of the
individual — and the freedom to live his life and dispose of his wealth as he
chose — was the highest political end. Thus, for them, government's sole
purpose was to assist in the achievement of this end. Government officials were
viewed as servants, and only as servants, to ensure the preservation of the
individual, the freedom to live his life, and to dispose of his wealth, as he
saw fit.
Although Americans of today operate under the delusion that they
subscribe to the same value structure as their ancestors, the uncomfortable
reality is that they have instead rejected and abandoned it. Although they will
rarely admit it to themselves or others, Americans today honestly believe that
the supreme end in American society is not the preservation of the individual
and his freedom to choose, but rather the preservation of the political
bureaucracy and its unlimited power to control the lives and wealth of the
citizenry.
When Governments
Go Bad…
Legal experts such as retired Louisiana State University law
professor John Baker say, "There is no one in the United States over
the age of 18 who cannot be indicted for some federal crime... That is
not an exaggeration."
One reason is because more than 4,500 federal laws exist. These
laws crisscross 50 titles and roughly 27,000 pages of the U.S. Code. And to
complicate matters, at least another 10,000 regulations from dozens of
disparate federal offices and agencies carry severe and criminal punishments.
Adding to this volatile mix is the established trend that
government seeks to "criminalize nearly every aspect of our lives,"
says The Heritage Foundation.
if you're negligent and drop a banana peel on the floor, and a
customer slips on it and gets injured, the customer has the right to sue for
monetary damages. That's fair. No one gets locked up in jail; it was just a
mistake.
But under The Clean Water Act, simple, unintentional accidents are
crimes. You can get charged with a felony and sent to prison for three years
because your employees accidentally installed the wrong water filter. This
happened to Mr. James Hong [United States v. James Ming Hong].
If your employee drives heavy equipment and accidentally punctures
a buried petroleum pipe, and the contents spill into a waterway, you'll have a
felony on your personal record for life, and also sit in prison for six months,
just as it happened to Edward Hanousek, Jr. [Edward Hanousek v. United
States].
No reasonable person would expect regulations like these to be
rolled back in Obama's second term. In fact, they're likely to grow in both
number and severity.

Do You have the Udacity?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' monthly JOLTS (Job
Openings and Labor Turnover Survey) report, of 3.2 million private job openings
right now, nearly one-fifth of them (or 632,000 to be precise) can be found in
the healthcare and social assistance category.
While nurses and doctors might be the first professions to
come to mind when you think about healthcare, there's actually a long and diverse list of
opportunities to pick from, many of which are among the fastest growing (in
terms of job creation) and best paying. From dental hygienists to
cardiovascular technicians to lab assistance and occupational therapists, the
demand for workers is high. Interestingly, so is the demand for support staff
that keep the offices running and the bills humming, as giant institutions need
to keep the lights on and their campuses safe.
The Bureau also estimates there will be more than two
million new tech jobs by 2020 giving credence to the theory that students may
not need a $250,000 education to get hired.
As previously reported, learning computer science can prove more useful
than the arts. Udacity, an online service
that offers such classes already has enrolled 150,000 pupils to get their

What is the TPP or Trans-Pacific Partnership?
The TPP is an international treaty that is being negotiated in secret. According to an article on Washington's Blog (and a broadcast by Democracy Now), it would allow foreign corporations that operate in the U.S. to appeal regulations to an international tribunal. That tribunal would have the power to override U.S. law and even to penalize the United States government for failure to comply with its rulings. Lori Wallach who posted leaked documents that revealed the nature of this supposed "trade agreement," says that it essentially establishes "global corporate governance." It is not clear how the ruling tribunal would be created, but it seems likely that key leaders from the corporate world would be on it.
Interestingly, the chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on International Trade, Customs, and Global Competitiveness, Ron Wyden, has been denied access to the treaty text. Normally his is the committee that would have jurisdiction over something like this, and he has clearance to see even classified documents.

The Parting Thought- Power and a Cash hungry government
It's bad enough that power-hungry
federal agents prosecute honest Americans with labyrinthine laws. What's worse
is the potential for abuse because the government is broke and on the hunt for
any means to fills its coffers.
Civil forfeiture (as opposed to
criminal forfeiture) happens when law enforcement agencies "seize
property upon the mere suspicion that it may have some connection to criminal
activity," says president and general counsel of the Institute for
Justice, Chip Mellor. "Under civil forfeiture, police and prosecutors
can seize your car or other property, sell it and use the proceeds to fund
agency budgets–all without... charging you with a crime... with civil
forfeiture, owners need not be charged with a crime... to lose homes, cars,
cash or other property."
This nightmare is happening now to
Mr. Russ Caswell...
In United States v. 434 Main
Street, Tewksbury, Massachusetts (The Motel Caswell), the Justice
Department teamed up with the local police department to strip Caswell's
ownership of his motel.
Notice the case title, United
States v. 434 Main Street, Tewksbury, Massachusetts. The defendant is an
actual street address, not a legal entity; the government is suing the
property. Caswell and his family are NOT accused much less convicted of any
crime.
The government's position: Over
the last 20 years, this motel, which has been in the Caswell family for two
generations, is the location where some lodgers have been arrested for crimes.
(So, apparently that makes the cops entitled to the property.)
It's important to mention that
throughout this time "the Caswells themselves have worked closely with
law enforcement officials to prevent and report crime on their property,"
says the Institute for Justice. The Caswells have been responsible and diligent
owners. Their motel is worth at least $1 million and is owned free and clear,
making it a juicy prize.
For perspective, in 1986, the year
after the U.S. Department of Justice's Asset Forfeiture Fund was created it
took in just $93.7 million. According its Annual Financial Statements for the
year 2011, the fund increased to $2.85 BILLION in 2011, up from $2.58 BILLION
in 2010, nearly an 11% increase in one year. As government grows, so does its
appetite.
