>The obvious failure of our confirmation process should be apparent to everyone.  The Democrats turned this into a dog & pony show where Ford was dragged into a public scene despite her request to be kept anonymous thanks to leaks by Sen. Feinstein’s crew [who should be, in my opinion, be censured for this crude crap] and Kavanaugh was deemed guilty by protestors & pundits without a trial I have been a long critic of the process, but the Kavanaugh confirmation process has magnified these flaws to a grotesque degree.

Notably, Kavanaugh now has been given the SNL treatment with a performance by Matt Damon that is that type of comical portrayal that hits hard in public controversy.

>According to the latest estimates released by Edmunds, new vehicle sales for September are expected to collapse both on a monthly basis and year-over-year basis. The company predicted that 1,392,434 new cars and trucks will be sold in the U.S. in September, which makes for a estimated seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 17 million. This will be a 5.4% decrease from last month and an 8.3% drop from September of last year.

>Pending home sales plunged in August, dropping 1.8% MoM (almost four times worse than expected) to its lowest since Oct 2014 (and fell 2.5% YoY) – the fourth month of annual declines in a row…

And it isn’t just one part of the nation that is experiencing a downturn.  According to Bloomberg, all four major regions of the country showed a decline…

As Bloomberg As Bloomberg notes, the decline, which was broad-based across all four regions, shows that higher mortgage rates, rising prices and a shortage of affordable homes continue to squeeze buyers. Existing-home sales in August matched the lowest in more than two years, while revisions to new-home sales showed a slower market than thought, according to previously released figures.

Kiss your party balloons goodbye; helium is on its way out. This is a very unfortunate thing because it is used so for much more than the stuff of fifth grade memories. This nonrenewable resource is also used to cool down superconducting magnets in MRI machines as well as for leak detection in testing containers subjected to high pressure. Many scientists use it to achieve the lowest temperatures of any cryogen to enable them in order to view quantum mechanical phenomena cleanly.

Central bankers and other regulators have largely succeeded in containing the practice that caused disaster in 2008: risky mortgage lending by big banks. But with so much easy money sloshing around in global markets, new threats were bound to emerge — in places the regulators aren’t watching as closely.

According to the new report, titled New Strategies For Smart Integrated Decentralised Energy Systems, by 2050 almost half of all EU households will produce renewable energy. Of these, more than a third will participate in a local energy community. In this context, the microgrid opportunity could be a game changer.

Illinois was the third-worst state in debt per taxpayer at $50,800. That’s $400 more than the previous year’s report. Only Connecticut, at $53,400 debt per taxpayer, and New Jersey with $61,400 debt per taxpayer, were worse than Illinois.

Americans are borrowing more than ever, with mortgage balances growing at a rate that Lending Tree warns is in line with pre-housing bubble levels. The ratio of personal savings to disposable personal income is falling, from 7.4 percent in February to 6.7 percent in June. Auto lending, widely feared to be the next subprime lending crisis, has climbed steadily since the Great Recession ended, and consumers are taking longer to repay those loans. Total household debt hit a record $13.3 trillion in the second quarter, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In fact, this marks the sixteenth consecutive quarter household debt rose, breaking the previous record of $12.68 trillion. The old record, coincidentally, was reached exactly 10 years ago, during that decidedly unpleasant third quarter of 2008.

The bad news doesn’t end there. This week’s report by the Social Security trustees—the head trustee is Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin—had even tighter time frames for other pieces of the social safety net. It said that Medicare’s hospital insurance fund will be depleted in 2026, three years earlier than it forecast a year ago. That means come 2026, unless changes are made, the program will only be able to pay about 91% of costs.

The charity analyzed cancer incidence data between 1979 and 2014 to make the projections and used the results as a further call for national campaigns and legislation to reduce the prevalence of obesity by following the blueprint used for smoking campaigns.

[We wrote about this a few issues back…obesity now rivals smoking is America’s biggest health challenge].

$100 Oil Is A Distinct Possibility (Higher pump prices coming soon)

That means that there isn’t the same upward pressure on WTI as there is on Brent, largely because infrastructure bottlenecks in the shale patch keep supplies somewhat stuck within the United States. And it isn’t just in West Texas where the constraints are causing problems. “[B]ottlenecks in the Permian basin could well extend to other areas such as the Bakken or the Niobrara, and we do not even rule out temporary export capacity constraints in the Gulf Coast as domestic output overwhelms logistics,” BofAML said in a note.

The number of overall gun deaths in 2015—accidental, homicides, and suicides—was approximately 36,000, two-thirds of which were suicides. So 250,000 malpractice deaths is nearly seven times higher than gun deaths, even when counting intentional gun deaths.

Markets collapse when they can no longer feed on the public. Governments collapse when they can no longer feed on the public.

Lots of good points to ponder especially about what the Dems to create a national three ring circus with Ford & Kavanaugh-a national embarrassment bringing out the worst of the Left wingers tarnishing the process forever I fear and creating guilty until proven innocent, circus like atmosphere which is utterly wrong...how ironic from the party which is famous for its KKK and carpet bagger beginnings.

I see in the above that IL is once again ranked as the most debt ridden state along with other Democrat run states = no surprise there. Cities like Detroit were run into the ground by Dems for 50 years and other states such CA have been so over-taxed that many have fled to other states to get away from its high tax, high real estate and over regulated policies all associated with its socialistic and sanctuary policies...a haven for the lunatic left who rely on illegals for cheap labor and their drug supply.

The Dems have gone into overdrive with their unsubstantiated smear drive against Kavanaugh & it is sickening. The collusion of NBC [interviewing a "3rd accuser" who was dismissed out of hand by the FBI as having no credibility means that network has sunk to a new low of tabloid TV by giving a platform to the witch hunt...] This has become a disgusting piece of crap foisted on America by left wing parasites.
And by the way, great insights and resources!
