Forced Farm Shutdowns: Coming to Your Country?

A telling example of how the environmental movement is being used as a weapon

You might think that it wouldn’t happen here. But by now we need to expect the unexpected. Many Dutch farmers thought it wouldn’t happen there. But it has.

As of this writing, those farmers are in the streets protesting a drastic government plan to shut down an incredible one third of all Dutch farming. Some unarmed protesters have even been fired upon by police.

Dutch fishermen have joined in, fearing that their livelihoods will be the next sacrifice to environmentalism. Fishermen and farmers have blockaded ports, closed distribution centers, and clogged roads with tractors.

Polls indicate many, if not most, sympathize with the protesters. It’s easy to see why. It’s hard to think of a more self-destructive policy than destroying a third of your own food production. If the government shut down a third of car factories, for example, people could make do. But people cannot go without food. They will be forced to pay more and import it from other countries that may or may not have the best interests of the Dutch in mind. But the government is completely committed, to the point of shots fired, to making its people dependent on supply chains from foreign countries for its essential food supply, even after two years of massive disruptions to global supply chains.

But perhaps the most surprising part of this story is that the Netherlands is not alone. Many countries are ready to harm their own food production, people and security in the name of environmentalism. Canada is trying to cut its emissions from fertilizer use by 30 percent by 2030. The European Union is trying to twist Australia’s arm to adopt similar policies. American farmers say the government is making it even harder to produce food.

Why are environmentalists attacking our food supply?

Going Dutch

The Netherlands is an agricultural exporting powerhouse. This comparatively tiny nation is the world’s number two exporter of agricultural goods after the United States.

Confirming stereotypes, a good chunk of this agricultural output is tulips. But the Netherlands also exports large amounts of meat, dairy and vegetables. And according to the government, that’s a problem.

Or rather, the EU has made it the Dutch government’s problem. The story of farmers having their livelihoods shut down because they’re too successful shows the power accumulated by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels.

It also shows how well-intentioned rules can be twisted into insane outcomes.

In 1992, the Netherlands signed the European Habitats Directive, a document that claimed to have the noble goal of helping Europe work together to protect endangered species and habitats. It mentioned nitrogen exactly zero times. The 146-page “interpretation manual” said nothing about nitrogen pollution. The politicians who signed this, and the people voting for it, never believed this would one day be used to shut down farms.

But environmental activists and European judges thought differently. In 2019, the European Court of Justice ruled that the Dutch government was violating this directive by not doing enough to restrict nitrogen pollution. The Dutch government—which in the past fought hard against European rulings it didn’t like—finally caved in and introduced new laws to shut down farms.

The nitrogen the environmentalists are so concerned about comes largely in the form of nitrogen oxides, burned by cars, or ammonia and nitrous oxide, found in manure and fertilizer.

Belgium has been the victim of a similar court ruling. Jan Willem Erisman, a professor of environmental sustainability at Leiden University, said, “[I]f German or French activists went to court, the situation would probably be the same there.”

The EU is working to spread similar rules around the globe. It’s working on a trade deal with Australia at the moment. The EU’s summary of the negotiation’s progress discusses the nitrogen emissions of Australia’s agricultural industry at length and concludes that “negotiators are recommended to commit to stimulate further climate action in the context of the [free-trade agreement].”

Is Australia about to walk into the same trap as the Netherlands?

The EU’s push is a reflection of a global environmental focus on agriculture. In February 2020, the Guardian described growing “coalitions of politicians, activists and conscience-stricken billionaires” working to change how we use land. “Their guiding philosophy—that we should leave the land alone—upends the long dominant view that land should be cleared, plowed and wrung ever more efficiently for food,” it wrote. Long before that, in 2006, the Ecologist called agriculture “humanity’s worst invention.”

In the U.S., environmentalists regularly wage war on cattle ranchers. “Are we under assault? Very much so,” said Shawn Martini of the Colorado Farm Bureau. Utah Farm Bureau president Ron Gibson warned about environmentalists with a “goal to destroy agriculture 100 percent.”

Some of these activists are lawyers, politicians and protesters. Bill Gates is an activist and the largest private farmland owner in the U.S., with close to 1 percent of the nation’s farmland. He once said that “all rich countries should move to 100 percent synthetic beef” and that governments could “use regulation to totally shift the demand.”

Is This a Good Thing?

Many religious groups take the side of the environmentalists, so it may be a surprise to see a news outlet affiliated with a church take an opposite view. But it’s important to see the wider picture.

First, this is not to defend man’s current agricultural practices. There are serious, genuine problems with the way we farm, and some of these regulations would address them.

The Bible directly condemns exploitation of the land. Old Testament Israel observed laws that protected the soil, the environment and animal welfare. Some EU laws, like those limiting the use of antibiotics in farm animals, help promote healthier animals and better quality meat for consumers—without shutting down farms.

But the current assault on farming is an example of misguided environmental zealotry, which for many has actually morphed into neo-pagan religion. Efforts to protect the environment at all costs, often based on bad science and anti-biblical ideas, have become a weapon to attack the West, especially Britain and America.

Right now, the Biden administration is doing everything it can to make it harder for Americans to drill for oil. At the same time, it is begging countries like Saudi Arabia to increase oil production. This alone exposes the true purpose of the movement: It doesn’t help the environment, but it does hurt America.

Germany, meanwhile, is shuttering its nuclear power stations, which produce no carbon dioxide, while opening up its coal power stations. This is at the same time that the Greens party is part of the governing coalition. It’s also rolling back environmental rules to boost agriculture. And Germany claims to be a champion of environmental issues.

None of this makes sense until you realize that, for many, environmentalism is a political tool to harm America and others.

Odds are strong Trump will return to office, regaining his stolen election; he’ll have to fight the socialists to do so however,

All of us need to fight the scum in DC to save America.  Biden is killing our nation w/ 9.1% inflation, the invasion of 3.2 million illegals…meanwhile bumbling Biden sold nearly 6 million barrels of oil to our enemy China’s Petroleum-Chemical Corp., the one that Hunter Biden owns a $1.7 billion stake in.

All the crap Biden has pulled on America is deliberate Treason!

The truth about the stolen 2020 United States presidential election is not going away, so Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s radical regime is doubling down on its efforts to fundamentally transform America while there is still time.

After watching the 2000 Mules election fraud documentary at the Texas State Republican Convention, June 16–18, the delegates passed a resolution in their 2022 platform, stating that the Republican Party in Texas recognizes that Joe Biden’s installment as president is the result of election fraud.

The dominant party in one of the most important states in the union didn’t stop there. It also officially called for overturning the Supreme Court mandate that same-sex “marriage” be legalized nationwide and even stated, “Texas retains the right to secede from the United States.”

On July 7, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order authorizing both the Texas National Guard and the Texas Department of Public Safety to arrest immigrants crossing the border and deport them back to Mexico. Normally, only the federal government is authorized to enforce immigration law, but Abbott cited Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, which states, “The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.”

Some legal analysts argue that Abbott’s order misinterprets the Constitution, but the legality of it hinges on whether or not the ongoing migrant crisis constitutes an “invasion.” Somewhere close to 10 percent of all people in the U.S. are illegal immigrants.

In “What Will Happen After Trump Regains Power,” Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry explained that President Donald Trump was the winner of the 2020 election. He further said that the Bible prophesies Trump’s return to power, yet he “will have to fight for it. It doesn’t have to be military action, but it certainly could. President Trump could also lead some states to secede from the union.” administration in an effort to stave off invasion indicates that Governor Abbott is likely to become a strong ally of President Trump in his fight to save America.

The U.S. annual inflation rate climbed to 9.1 percent in June, its highest level since 1981. The core inflation rate, which doesn’t include food and energy prices, eased to 5.9 percent. But food prices rose 10.4 percent while gasoline prices soared by an incredible 59.9 percent. Even as inflation worsened, Biden sold nearly 6 million barrels of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve to the China Petroleum and Chemical Corp. The investment firm of his son, Hunter Biden, owns a $1.7 billion stake in that corporation.

These nation-destroying problems are not the result of incompetence. They are the result of deliberate treason.

Why Most People Would Die After a Total Collapse

You don’t have to be a prepper to know that all disasters are not created equal; just look at the last couple of years. COVID impacted the entire globe. In comparison, other “smaller” disasters might have had a huge impact locally, but were limited to smaller areas.

The war in Ukraine has really only impacted a very small percent of the world’s population, but it has captured the attention of almost everyone, as a possible portent of what is to come.

While wars are horrible, perhaps even more destruction can be caused by a total collapse of civilization. There are many such scenarios that exist, including conventional war, nuclear war, and an attack by an EMP; even a CME from the sun could being us to that point...

Extreme disaster lessons, both good and bad…

Food shortages are here and will get worse

The President of the National Black Farmers Association, John Boyd Jr., said in June that “We are in a crisis right now as far as the food chain goes with the farmers in this country…We’re going to see a lot of empty shelves and a lot more high food prices.”

Food banks are already seeing a flood of new families.

While the loss of life and property and other pain they create are gut-wrenching, disasters like hurricanes can be great teachers.

But we must first be ready to accept the lessons for what they are — good and bad.

Man's hubris and his dependence upon government are very much to blame for the damage, destruction and suffering that result from both heavy rain storms and a lack of water like we are seeing in the American West.

Man long ago decided that his ingenuity would enable him to overcome the laws of nature and he began building cities in flood plains and in the desert. So he razed the land and stripped it of its topsoil and vegetation. He removed the hills and filled in the valleys. And he covered the land in concrete and asphalt. He built levees to "control" the water… and built dams, reservoirs and the "Colorado Arizona Project" that means the great Colorado River doesn't even make it to Mexico any longer.

Man's cities became large and expansive and attracted more and more people to live, which led to more expansion, more buildings, more concrete and asphalt and levees and drought.

This disrupted the natural flow of water. When rain falls from the sky it is absorbed into the earth until the earth becomes saturated. Only then does it begin to flow to the lowest point it can find.

Buildings, concrete and asphalt do not absorb water. So the rain immediately becomes runoff, which turns into streams, which — when it falls at rates like those seen in tropical storms, — turn into rivers which wash away everything in their path; even the concrete structures man built.

Then what do we have? A lack of power, a lack of food and water, a lack of safety, a lack of the rule of law, in many cases. Therefore you must avoid making the same mistakes as most who think they are preparing properly.

If we can't visualize a storm in fair weather it's too late when the clouds appear — figuratively, of course, but also literally. I have repeatedly advised to store food. It is not only basic to life, survival and barter, but in time it will be classed as hoarding and will be a criminal act if caught.

Food shortages can be caused by supply problems, or impending disasters like hurricanes, or food riots, floods, fire, drought, disease or freezing temperatures, but also because of financial chaos related to the collapse of the purchasing power of paper money. The possibilities for something going wrong are endless, and so we must be ready for anything.

Food is worth far more than money when it is scarce. A prudent and wise person will store food long before there is a visible need. When starvation begins, it is too late! I started 45 years ago when storing food was a joke.

Man's dependence upon government creates hardships on those in the affected areas. Rather than store food, water and other essentials for emergencies so they can survive in case of disaster, people remain in some kind of false comfort zone of normalcy bias, believing that because the things they need have always been there, they will always be there — and that government will save them. But FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) doesn't pluck anyone off of a roof.

In the run-up to any storm this late summer and fall — hurricane and fire season — your local grocery shelves will be laid bare and needed items like generators, plywood, boards, tape, etc., for boarding up and protecting homes will be gone, leaving many who wait too late without.

We have long told our readers that the time to prepare for a disaster — whether man-caused or natural — is now because tomorrow could be too late. Everyone should keep on hand a minimum of three days of food and water and preferably enough for three or more weeks, and we have set up a special website so that you can do so without breaking the bank. Everyone should consider the possible disasters that may strike and collect everything they would need to survive the crisis.

But hurricanes like the extreme rainfall from Hurricane Harvey in Houston — 50 inches of rain! — also provided us with good lessons and reminders. The globalists are funding and the mainstream media are promoting race wars and division in America in an attempt to bring her down. But the heartwarming images of people helping people — first it was Houstonians helping their neighbors, and then it was people who got there as fast as they could from all over the country — with rescues, food and shelter show that Americans are the best people on earth.

It's not the government, which is not America and is as corrupt and dysfunctional as any, that represents America. It is her people. Government — the federal government, especially — is not a first responder. It can't be depended upon to provide the necessities during and in the immediate aftermath of the storm.

It's the local people first helping each other, and the local first responders next. And America's people have shown once again they are good, and that gives me hope.

Yours for the truth,

Bob Livingston

100 Bug Out Bag Items You Forgot

Even if you could get it all into one bag, it would be too heavy. Ideally, your bug out bag should weigh about 15% of your body weight if you're in good shape, and 20% of your body weight if you're in great shape.

Rather, the purpose of this list is to remind you of items that you would have put in your bug out bag, if only you had thought of them. For example, someone might peruse this list and think, "A sillcock key? What a great idea! Why didn't I think of that?"

Every bug out bag is unique depending on your skills, your region, your preferences, who will be with you, and so forth. This is why you should periodically go over the contents of your bug out bag and make any necessary adjustments. Since it's the start of a new year, I think now is a great time to do that...

Understanding the tyrannical mind and how it operates

All people seek to control their environments to a certain degree. They want a reliable level of management over their future, and to remove whatever doubts they might have about their survival in the world. If they can, people will take measures to remove any potential pain or struggle and establish a life of perpetual comfort. The easy road is the dream for most, and in order to get it, human beings see power as a formidable tool.

I'm examining this condition because I want to make it clear that almost all people desire control to a degree. Sometimes this even means controlling the actions of others to prevent them from disrupting the oasis of comfort we construct around us. Sometimes there are destructive people that we feel we are forced to inhibit and cage in self-defense. And still other times, we try to control those around us out of irrational fear.

The tyrannical mindset is not exclusive to the Stalins, Maos and Hitlers of history, it is a deep-rooted shadow that lurks in all of us at times. It is this condition that political tyrants try to exploit to their advantage because no authoritarian government can ever be successful without the help of millions of little tyrants supporting them. They find a way to feed our desire for control and predictability while enslaving the masses.

The point is, it's dangerous to view tyrants as completely separate from us. They need us, and we all have a little dash of tyranny in our souls. We are linked, but we are different.

This is not to say that order in itself is evil or that social structures are inherently oppressive. People need boundaries because not all people are good; some are vicious, some are lazy, some are incompetent and some are dishonest and they drag the rest of us down. Anarchy is not the solution, but neither is totalitarianism. It's all about who sets the boundaries and how.

This is where we uncover a human element that is particularly attracted to control, not because they are afraid, and not because they want comfort, but because they enjoy the feeling of power. They are addicted to it. I'm speaking specifically about narcissists, sociopaths and psychopaths; they are members of our species, but they are lacking key psychological traits that make us human, such as empathy, imagination, love and shame. In almost every case of government gone wrong, it is because these types of people were able to slither into positions of authority and take advantage.

Your average psychopath is not all that complex or interesting. The fact of their existence is interesting, but as people, they tend to be boring. The idea of them is fascinating because they are a biological anomaly, an evolutionary mistake or maybe a spiritual deformity. Around 1 percent of any given population is prone to psychopathy and an even smaller percentage are high-functioning psychopaths that are adept at hiding their monstrous natures.

Most psychopaths eventually end up in prison or involved in an endless succession of life failures. They can't get it together and maintain relationships and build a normal life because they are too self-obsessed and dangerous and eventually the people around them notice. These types of people are what I would call the "little tyrants." They seem to rise to the surface of society when times are hard and desperate, and they feel it's safe to show their true natures.

For example, during the COVID pandemic lockdowns and the government attempts to introduce draconian vax mandates the little tyrants were everywhere. They just appeared out of the ether and swirled around the authoritarianism like it was a feeding frenzy. They took pleasure in the opportunity to order others around about masks and vaccines and "social distancing," even though none of these measures made any difference whatsoever to the spread of COVID or the rather minor Infection Fatality Rate.

They were being tossed scraps from the table of power and they loved every minute of it. The real science wasn't on their side, but they didn't care; the media and the government were on their side and that's all that mattered. They were happy to be used as weapons against citizens that just wanted to be free.

Beyond the symbiotic (or maybe parasitic) relationship between big tyrants and little tyrants, there are a set of standards that have to be met for tyranny to be successful:

Destruction Of Choice

At the core of tyranny is the removal of choice. Centralization is all about eliminating options for the public while telling them you are making their lives easier by streamlining. If people have options outside the establishment system or ideology then they might question the validity of the power structure. They might ask themselves "What if there is a better way than this?"

And, since there is always a better way than fear and slavery, tyrants have to engage in a constant war with all alternative ideas and principles. The only way they can be sure that people won't rebel is to erase the existence of choice. Not only that, but they have to convince the masses that to even suggest another choice is sacrilegious and dangerous. The system must become absolute in all things and in every area of daily life.

Create A False Moral Paradox

Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. It's the old Orwellian paradox that perverts the meaning of words and deeds to justify tyranny. An extension of this twisted way of thinking is the religion of the "greater good"; the idea that all evils are justified as long as the "greater good" is accomplished. But what is the greater good? Anything the tyrants say it is; usually anything that helps them to gain more power. One would think that a good that is "greater" would entail more freedom and less fear, not less freedom and more fear.

As a part of the tactic of removal of choice, tyrants often create a fake moral conundrum in which people are told that their freedom is actually harmful to others, therefore their freedoms must be taken away "for the greater good." Again, the COVID medical tyranny experiment was built completely around this argument. What if your choice to not were a mask, to not stay locked in your house and to not take a questionable vaccine hurt everyone else? Doesn't that justify taking your choices away? These claims are completely untrue, of course, but in the heat of national panic, people can be led to believe that the false paradox is real.

Obsessive Compulsive Expansion

As noted, tyrants and usually psychopathic personalities, and a part of this mindset is the compulsion to expand and devour. Like a growing amoeba, or that creature from the movie The Blob. Their hunger for control is never sated, they will always want more.

People will be told that they are only losing one or two freedoms, or that their freedoms will be restricted "for a short time." This is always a lie. Once tyrants gain new power, they will hold on to it obsessively as if it is oxygen and without it, they might die. And, then they will seek more powers because what they have is never enough. A friend of mine once described it this way:

Piled before the tyrant is a feast of kingly proportions, like a Thanksgiving Day feast flowing across his dinner table, and all you have is a little crust of bread. And even though the tyrant has more than could possibly ever fill his belly in a lifetime, all he can think about is your little crust. All he wonders about day and night is why you have that crust when it should be his, and he will not stop until your bread crust is in his hands while you starve. This is his mission in life. To take your crust and crumbs and leave you with nothing. Any other outcome would be unimaginable.

This is a metaphor, but it illustrates how psychopathic authoritarians view various freedoms. They are pieces of life that tyrants cannot tolerate you having in your possession. It drives them insane to know you have that little piece of light and joy in your hands and they froth and scream and wail and claw until they get it away from you.

Tyranny Cannot Be Defeated Unless It Is Understood

There will be people out there that make the common ignorant argument that all of this is an exercise in futility because it doesn't address solutions. There are many solutions to authoritarian systems, I have been writing about them for over 16 years now. We can talk all day about decentralization and localism and organization and revolution, but none of this matters unless we understand how our enemies think and the tactics they use. If we do not know them, we cannot defeat them.

They are not complex, and they are not necessarily ingenious, but they are relentless. Underestimating their obsession with control would be disastrous. The only thing they value more than power is their own lives, and until these people are made to understand that their lives could be the cost of their compulsions they will never stop. There is no reasoning with them. There is no diplomacy or compromise. There is no middle ground. They will continue to take, or they will be stopped. Knowing their mindset brings us several steps closer to stopping them.

To truth and knowledge,

Brandon Smith

Some experts think we could experience inflationary prices for the next 18 to 24 months. In fact, milk and butter prices went back up a bit this past week after trending down this past month. Things like fruit and coffee remain high.

Not only should we keep on stretching dollars as far as possible, but some of us might also want to prepare for the possibility of a layoff.
