Freedom Isn't the Problem... It's the Solution

THE BIG PORK

Last week, I drove down a main road near my house. The local stores -- coffee shops, pizza parlors, barbers, restaurants, and on -- were all CLOSED.

And yet, two lines stretched back almost a mile.

I took a closer look.

Count me shocked.

They were headed toward two “essential” places of business.

1] Krispy Kreme

AND

2] Starbucks

And, Walmart’s parking lot? You guessed it.

Filled to the brim.

On this observation, Amanda Presto (@AmandaPresto) wrote:

“Had to stop at the local Walmart today. It was PACKED. Just goes to show you how unethical this lockdown is. I can go to a packed Walmart to buy art supplies but can’t go to the tiny local art store… The disproportionate hit to small businesses is criminal.”

And, finally, along this vein, Lori Hendry has also said on Twitter:

“When the state shuts down millions of private businesses but doesn’t lay off a single government employee, it’s not about your health.

“When the state puts you IN a jail cell for walking in a park with your child because it’s too dangerous, but lets criminals OUT of jail cells for their health… it’s not about your health.

“When the state tells you it’s dangerous to go golfing alone, fishing alone, or boating alone, but the governor can get his stage makeup and hair done for FIVE TV appearances a week… it’s not about your health.”

What is it about, then?

More on that in a moment.

First, a quick story…

USDA Kitten Cannibalism 101

Governments, as you know, are notorious for waste.

But no government wastes money quite like the ol’ US of A.

For example, last year, the White Coat Waste Project (WCW) exposed a taxpayer-funded study now infamously known as “USDA Kitten Cannibalism.”

The report revealed how the U.S. government sent federal employees on taxpayer-funded shopping sprees to…

Wait for it…

Chinese wet markets.

Why, you ask?

To buy cats and puppies.

Indeed, our “public servants” then had the animals slaughtered, and brought the body parts back... IN CARRY-ON LUGGAGE!

All so they could feed the body parts to kittens in what the CWC called “bizarre and wasteful multi-million-dollar kitten cannibalism experiments.”

Turns out, taxpayer money was responsible for helping to keep these wet markets open.

Which just goes to show that while Big Gub is great at helping to create crises…

It’s even better at not letting it go to waste.

Fast-forward to 2020.

The Big Pork: Waste More, Want More

“Every time the country faces a crisis,” says the Constitutional activist Roscoe B. Davis, “real or perceived, there is a rush in Congress to pass massive bills that go far beyond responding to the matter at hand. These phonebook-sized emergency acts are too long and detailed for any legislator to read and fully comprehend.

“But we the people can read and it's stuffed with gimmicks, giveaways, sweetheart deals and ill-advised policies with no bearing on the COVID-19 crisis itself.”

Back in March we saw that Nancy Pelosi’s wishlist had barely anything to do with the coronavirus.

The bill, which was… first off... over 1,400 PAGES LONG…

Will go down as one of the biggest pork rolls in history.

As Roscoe outlined, here’s a partial rundown:

$100,000,000 to Nasa, because, who knows why.

$20,000,000,000 to the USPS, because why the hell not

$300,000,000 to the Endowment for the Arts / because f*ck it

$300,000,000 for the Endowment for the Humanities/ because no one even knew that was a thing

$15,000,000 for Veterans Employment Training / for when the GI Bill isn't enough

$435,000,000 for mental health support / thats a lot of f***** suicide hotlines

$30,000,000,000 for the Department of Education stabilization fund/ because that will keep people employed (see sarcasm)

$200,000,000 to Safe Schools Emergency Response to Violence Program

$300,000,000 to Public Broadcasting / NPR has to be bought by the dems

$500,000,000 to Museums and Libraries / Who the hell knows how we are going to use it

$720,000,000 to Social Security Admin / but get this only 200,000,000 is to help people. The rest is for admin costs

$25,000,000 for Cleaning supplies for the Capitol Building / I shit you not it's on page 136

$1,000,000,000 Airlines Recycle and Save Program pg 163

$25,000,000 to the FAA for administrative costs pg 165

$5,000,000 Salaries and Expensive Office of the Inspector General pg 172

$130,000,000 for AIDS Housing pg 185 $20,000,000 of which goes to one time grantees whatever the hell that means pg 186

$15,000,000,000 for the Community Development Fund pg 188

Only $10,000,000 of which is set aside for infrastructure for fighting infectious disease pg 191

Matt Welch, an editor at Reason, a libertarian magazine, called the CARES Act "a massive course of experimental economics" and compared the American public to "laboratory rats.”

There’s no more “politics of fiscal prudence in America," Welch said, "just a competition to see who can wag the biggest fire hose."

Shocked? I didn’t think so.

As historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. wrote, referring to FDR’s first inauguration:

"A sharp break with the past did in fact occur in March, 1933. The essence of that break lay precisely in the changes from volunteerism to law as the means for ordering the economy."

It was, in other words, in 1933 when a “sharp break” from reliance on the individual to reliance on the “collective” (state) took place.

Without complete dependence on Big Gov, after all, who would arrest hairstylists, bar owners, and waitresses for the crime of wanting (see needing) to work?

How about we inject some sanity into “the debate that never was”:

Freedom isn’t the problem.

It’s the solution.

Americans have already seen their constitutional rights brutally compromised as many state governments continue to lock residents down.
Pelosi's $3 trillion bailout bill is filled with nonsensical pork...she's daft!

We have all likely seen the reports that food shortages are coming. This seems to be the one thing that the mainstream media and alternative media can agree upon. From the health crisis, we learned that we cannot be fully dependent on stores to have an everlasting supply of food and everyday living items. Furthermore, some states have even banned the purchase of seeds, all but making being self-sufficient “illegal.” But this is still the best way to protect yourself.

If food shortages are coming, there is a way to prepare yourselves so your family can eat healthy foods even when the worst happens.

One of the foundational pillars of civilization is agriculture. On a smaller scale, it’s called horticulture. And that’s important because the only way to survive a severe grid-down experience is to have the ability and the knowledge to grow your own food.

In this Youtube video from Canadian Prepper, he talks about a one-year test he did to plant a survival garden. He started with a small, 10 x 10-foot plot and primarily grew potatoes, carrots, onions, and some green beans. The question was, which of these foods is the most important for survival?

Heirloom vegetable seeds are a great thing to have and grow, but don’t depend totally on heirloom seeds. They don’t present a lot of staple crops providing calorie-dense foods, although they do provide a nice variety...
