A Digest of Urban
Survival Resources
Most people do not realize this, but a massive
change in money and finance is underway, and at this point, is
unstoppable.
Russia
invaded Ukraine, and the outcome was sanctions that shut off Russia from doing
business in dollars. The Obama/Biden Administration was out to kill
Russia financially, and it appears they have killed the dollar instead.
Russia is demanding rubles for its energy, and that means less dollars
needed. Other countries are shedding the dollar to do business with
Russia, namely China and India. Those dollars are going to come home, and
when you have a lot of something flooding, in the price goes down. In
this case, the buying power of the dollar is going to continue to go
down.
Don’t
expect anything to go back to the way or the price it was. Count on
prices going higher, and I mean much higher…As noted by this major bank and
others:
Banks, traders
and economists have been watching the economy — along with just about anybody
with a paycheck — trying to anticipate if and when a recession might hit the
U.S.
Deutsche Bank
has warned that the Federal Reserve’s measures to fight inflation in the U.S.
will spark a recession that will likely begin late next year
SIDEBAR:
Alpha Strategy entailed three levels…[this is something the Poor
Man addressed earlier]
- Invest
in production. If
it’s something you need to make a living — education, a skill set, tools —
this takes priority over anything else.
- Save
consumables. This is the stuff you use on a
day-to-day basis — razor blades, pasta, tires — if you use it up and it
has a decent shelf life, it falls under Level 2.
- Save
real money. If after Level 2 you still have
savings left, then you can put it into precious metals and other tangible
assets.
Food: “Foods are the No. 1 consumption item for most of us,” Pugsley
wrote, “but because of their perishable nature, they must be carefully
selected.” So forget about meat and produce. Even with a freezer, “the storage
cost is high relative to other goods.” Consider instead…
Canned goods: Shelf life varies,
but figure on using them up within 18 months. Even a one-year supply will
insulate you against rising prices
Sugars: The shelf life of
sugar is just on this side of forever. “Jams, jellies and other preserves will
last indefinitely, as will most fruits that are packed in sugar syrups.” Honey
and molasses will keep for years; even if they harden, just heat and stir
Grains and
legumes: Wheat, rice, peas and beans will all last for 10 years or
longer. Beware: If you grind the wheat into flour, that shelf life turns into
mere months
Tea: A “near perfect”
savings asset, Pugsley said. Bulk buying gives you significant savings, and tea
takes up little space and suffers little if any loss of quality over time
Pasta: It can keep for five
years or longer.
The Alpha Strategy is a means to protect purchasing power, and
is not intended to be a means to defend against social collapse.”
Although under present circumstances in 2022, it can’t hurt!
Mr. Pugsley posted a free PDF file of The Alpha Strategy on his website. And while his site is long gone, fans dutifully reposted the PDF. Here’s a link.

Ex-Leftist Tells All
Michael Rectenwald, formerly a professor at New York University,
spent his life as a leftist — a self-described Marxist, in fact.
When on Twitter he began to turn against the tactics and
behavior we see routinely on the left, particularly on college campuses with
their win-by-intimidation tactics, you know what happened: his leftist
colleagues took it as an opportunity to examine that behavior carefully
and open a dialogue with people of different views.
Just kidding.
You know that’s not what happened. That’s never what happens.
Instead, they completely isolated him on campus. Out of one
hundred colleagues, perhaps two would say hello to him. People would not even get
in the elevator with him.
They exiled him to the Russian department — where, he told me,
people were told he was a bad person who was not to be spoken to.
But would he necessarily abandon leftism, just because of bad
treatment by leftists? After all, even under the Soviet Union there
were plenty of cases of communists condemned to death by the Party who
nevertheless continued to believe. “The Party is always right,” they said.
Rectenwald is different.

How to Survive when the Grid Goes Down
There is a
learning curve to each thing you obtain, and the gear you bought will not use
itself, and it most certainly will not coach you during an SHTF event.
An old
pioneer method for making flour was to use a hand-cranked flour mill to grind
wheat grains into flour. That works. But a flour mill can turn lots
of things into flour, from beans or rice to acorns and amaranth seeds.
And you don’t need a flour mill to do it. A food processor can
convert a lot of things into dust, from corn flakes to chickpeas. That’s
essentially what defines any flour—something pulverized to dust.
You can add your new flour varieties to any white flour to
stretch your current flour supply. If you have some bread flour on hand, that’s
all the better, and you can stretch your (high-gluten) bread flour over more
recipes by combining it with other homemade flours. We’ll cover some
gluten-free flours as well, along with the recipes that go with them...

The USDA's Food Price Outlook
2022. It is the USDA's Consumer Price Index for food, which
measures inflation. According to this article on USA
Today, the USDA's Food Price Outlook 2022 "is up 7.9%
from February 2021, the largest increase since May 1981."
The article
also stated, "In total, food prices at grocery stores and supermarkets are
expected to increase 3%-4% this year after already seeing a 6.8% jump from
January 2021. Restaurant purchases are also 8.6% higher than in February 2021
and are expected to jump by 5.5%-6.5%.
4 Ways Shoppers Are Cutting Back on Groceries and Other Staples
Surging inflation has led some shoppers
to start cutting back on necessities.
94% of Americans Plan to Drop This Expense in 2022
Americans
say they plan to build savings and cut these expenses.
Poultry and eggs
Saving on
poultry can be as easy as using less in recipes and substituting other meats
that might be less expensive. Here are 10 Ways to Save on Meat and Poultry. You might also want
to stock the freezer with chicken. See Frugally Freezing Meats: Protect Your Savings from Freezer Burn
Eggs are a
different story. We don't often see too many coupons for eggs, and they are
necessary for a lot of baking even if you stop eating them for breakfast as
prices increase. It might make sense to buy powdered eggs to keep on hand for
baking. Or try this trick for freezing eggs and stock up.

Our family is spending roughly 30% more for food and fuel. Given we're primarily on a fixed income, it's getting tough.
Annual wholesale inflation rises 11.2 percent in March
Wholesale prices jumped 1.4 percent in March from February to hit an 11.2 percent annual increase, as widespread inflation affecting the U.S. economy is showing no signs of letting up.
The numbers released on Wednesday follow an 8.5 percent annual rise in consumer prices announced Tuesday, the highest since increase since December, 1981.
Gov't regulation is a curse; on average, prices on goods are 25% higher as a result [the epicenter of this crap is CA which is why we moved our firm to TX]. seems Dems are only adept at creating laws that strangle commerce & productivity [this is why so many firms moved production to plants overseas]. Dem run gov't is a disease & their lawyers are its enforcement arm which contribute to thos fiasco...Trump was good for business in that regard [he eliminated a lot of regs & biden & Obama only created more].
It is no secret that we all like to stretch a buck. How many of these frugal habits are part of your everyday life? (Ones like eating at home mostly, fixing things on your own if you can, not being brand loyal, buying in bulk when the price is great, etc.?) With inflation at a 40-year high, we all could use a little extra help stretching a buck.
We use coupons & buy in bulk and shop sale items...
The Inflation Crisis Of 2022 Is Now Worse Than Anything That We Experienced During The 1970s
I lay the blame for escalating inflation directly at the feet of idiot Dems & Biden. You predicted this when this leach took office!
