Cheaper Dog Food*
Preparing for tough times, more free resources
Many
families are struggling with their grocery bills. That can be tough when you
have a pet in the family, too. If you must buy your pet a "cheap" dog
food, my vet says to buy the puppy version because it has more vitamins.
Is the
cost of feeding fido straining your budget? Here are a few simple ways to save
on dog food that are healthy both for your dog and your wallet.
Here
are five more
ways to save on dog food.
*Pet
food prices have nearly doubled this year…we watched a documentary over the
weekend on how most pet foods are filled with useless ingredients. Your dog and cat are carnivores, not
vegetarians. We took much of our
leftover Turkey and ground it into pet food [added to dry food for our dog] and
plan to do the same with other leftover food items we’re not saving for
ourselves!

15 Foods That Last Forever
Although there are many foods that will last for decades when
stored properly (wheat, beans, pasta, etc.), there are some foods that last
forever without canning, freezing or dehydrating. If you're new to food
storage, these staples are a great way to start.
They're the longest lasting foods in the world and are often
referred to as "forever foods." Technically, most of them are
ingredients, but you can use them to make some great meals if you know how.
Next time you're at the store, be sure to grab some of these
foods/ingredients even if you don't think you need them. Just seal them in an
airtight bag, bottle, or container, keep them in a cool, dry location, and
forget about them. When the time comes, they'll be ready...

Economic Collapse = Societal Collapse
Preparing for Tough Times
When it
looked like my husband's company would be having to lay people off, we started
taking steps to make sure we'd be financially ok if my husband lost his job.
Our local
grocery store often gives $10 off a $50 gas card when you buy $50 in groceries.
I stocked up on cheap pantry essentials as they went on sale over the next
month and made sure to buy enough to also get the discounted gas card. I ended
up with four gas cards and a completely stocked pantry.
My husband
did end up getting laid off, but we did not have to spend much on food or gas
while he searched for a new job, leaving enough money to easily cover our bills
for those few months.
Here are some
more tips that can help you prepare for
a layoff.
9 Falsehoods Everyone
Believes
--a very worthwhile read…I’ve always been mystified why so many Americans are unable to think for themselves:
How many of these can you smash until the pieces are particles
of dust?
(1) The financial crisis of 2008 was caused by deregulation.
(2) “States’ rights” are code words for slavery and oppression.
(3) The Constitution’s “general welfare” clause means Congress
may pass whatever legislation it thinks will help the country.
(4) The Great Depression was caused by capitalism run amok.
(5) The 19th-century “robber barons” were parasites who gouged
consumers.
(6) Secession is unconstitutional.
(7) Capitalism hurts the poor.
(8) Racial disparities in income are caused by discrimination.

disasters don't wait for a convenient time
And you shouldn't wait to prepare either. In some cases there is
little to no warning.
Prepare now to lessen the impact of disasters and emergencies
Remember: You can’t buy life insurance after you’re dead!
When you think about packing up items to help you survive a
natural or human-made disaster, you often think of backpacks. And there is good
reason.
Backpacks are sturdy, lightweight, and with multiple pouches and
pockets, they allow you to stow a large number of essentials. They come in
expandable widths and sizes to fit even your smallest family members. And the
best part is that your hands remain free with a backpack.

Amen brother-we have many animals in our household [excluding my hubby] & it does seem to cost a LOT more to feed them.
Plenty of solid & useful resources, ideas, etc.-thanks!
Very good resources given how many pet owners there are!
My dog says thank you!
