Your right to essential freedoms
Essentially, I subscribe to the classical liberalism of Thomas
Jefferson, James Madison, and Patrick Henry. It's the political philosophy that
values the freedom of individuals — including the freedom speech.
Benjamin Franklin made a number of pronouncements during his
lifetime about the importance of free speech. One of them is:
Freedom of speech is a principal pillar of a free government: When
this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved.
We're seeing this dissolution thanks to modern liberals
(progressives), who were once consistent in their support of free speech, going
to bat to preserve the rights of flag burners, porn publishers and Trump
haters. But they've finally found speech they don't like. That's any speech
that sheds light on their standard bearers, pet causes, and behavioral demands,
no matter how harmful or economically devastating.
I feel that the nonsensical "hate speech" laws and the
like are like the Federal government's own proverbial gateway drugs: First it
makes "hate speech" laws, then there is systemic censorship, then the
Constitution is being rewritten to leave out the 1st Amendment altogether...
and that's the day we wake up in Oceania, having always been at war with
Eastasia.
The 1st Amendment was written not to protect the speech that
everyone wants to hear. It's there to protect the speech that people don't want
to hear. For the progressive crowd, that's just intolerable.
In fact the 1st Amendment ostensibly guarantees the rights of all
Americans to speak freely and openly and to criticize their government without
fear of repercussions. But not even the Founders held to that. President John
Adams and the 5th U.S. Congress put into law the Sedition Act which
criminalized making false statements critical of the Federal government, a
direct violation of the 1st Amendment. The law led to the arrest of many of
Adams' most vocal opponents, including Benjamin Franklin's grandson, Benjamin
Franklin Bache, editor of the Philadelphia Democrat-Republican Aurora.
Only in America's first few years of existence was there truly
freedom of speech. Since then we've lived in a post free speech America, and
exercising or attempting to exercise that right can get you disappeared, shot, arrested or fined if your
speech makes government too uncomfortable.
These are just a few of many such examples of a strong-armed
government working to silence the dissenters. Unfortunately, much of the
fawning mass media seem blind to the consequences.
A look at history, however, will reveal that stifling dissent is
among the first steps toward a socialist government.
In Germany, on Feb. 27, 1933, after the burning of the Reichstag,
Hitler issued an emergency declaration that stated, "Restrictions on
personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom
of the press; on the rights of assembly and association; and violations of the
privacy of postal, telegraphic and telephonic communications and warrants for
house searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property,
are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed." There
followed a roundup of dissenters who were imprisoned and murdered.
A look at current socialist/communist regimes such as Iran,
Venezuela, Cuba, China and North Korea reveals there is no dissent allowed, in
the media or otherwise. Dissenters are imprisoned, gunned down or simply
disappear. Even in Russia, now a quasi-democracy, press freedoms have been
greatly curtailed.
This is where our once-great country is headed, and it seems the
First Amendment no longer matters.
Speaking of history, nearly 250 years ago, Patrick Henry made his
famous "Give me liberty or give me death" speech to the Second
Virginia Convention, which was meeting at St. John's Church to avoid
interference from Virginia Governor John Murray, 4th Earl of Dunmore, and his
Royal Marines. Today, he would not have had that right to free assembly,
either, and his "career" would today be cancelled for daring to speak
out freely. Further, if you replace "British guard" with police or
any government armed enforcers and reckon whether our situation is eerily
similar:
"They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so
formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next
week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a
British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by
irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance,
by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until
our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? ... Why stand we here idle? What
is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so
sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?"
No, we must not — we can't afford to — let the elected elites and
unelected progressive mobs and their enablers in the corporate media erase the
1st Amendment. We cannot let our rights be trampled in the name of political
correctness by the ignorant funded by the elite.
Remember: The 1st Amendment, when correctly applied, should make us
uncomfortable — because it applies to everyone.

Lin Wood: ‘Better
to be safe than sorry’ with plenty of ‘2nd Amendment supplies.’
An attorney
who has filed multiple lawsuits to overturn the United States presidential
elections is calling on Republicans to stock up on guns and ammo. “Better to be safe than sorry,” attorney Lin
Wood posted to Twitter on December 13. “Make sure you have PLENTY of water,
food, flashlights & batteries, candles, radio, 2nd Amendment supplies,
& a plan to meet with leaders of your communities. Remember we only have 1
President at a time. Our leader is @realDonaldTrump, not
Biden.” This message came two days after the Supreme Court refused to hear a
Texas lawsuit that could have overturned the election, and one day before the
Electoral College voted to elect Joe Biden to the presidency.
President Donald Trump and his legal team have had more than 50
lawsuits dismissed by America’s courts over the past month, yet he continues to
press on in his quest to expose widespread voter fraud. In addition to the
Supreme Court refusing to hear Texas’s lawsuit, a Georgia court dismissed
a joint lawsuit from Wood and former federal
prosecutor Sidney Powell earlier this month. This lawsuit asked that Dominion
voting machines be examined for evidence that they were used to tamper with
vote tallies.
Both President Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani are optimistic
they can expose enough voter fraud to keep President Trump and his
administration in office. But about half of Republicans believe the U.S.
election was stolen by widespread voter fraud, and many are growing concerned
there will never be another free and fair election in America again. These
fears—along with concerns about covid-19—are
prompting Americans to stockpile toilet paper, groceries,
guns, ammunition and other supplies.
Even before the November 3 presidential election, usa Today polls indicated that half of
all Americans were stockpiling food and other supplies. And
Smith & Wesson’s ceo said in a September call
with investors that approximately 40 percent of its gun sales this year were
going to first-time buyers. That indicates the people buying guns in 2020 are
not doing so because they want to take up skeet shooting. They are concerned
about pandemics, race riots, and the specter of civil war. Like Lin Wood, they
feel it is better to be safe than sorry. So they stock up on water, food,
flashlights, batteries and Second Amendment supplies.
Yet these stockpilers underestimate the potential severity of
America’s situation.
