The USPS continued to deliver mail on Saturday
despite it being a brand new Federal Holiday, citing the short notice (2 days).
June 19th is now a Federal Holiday - Juneteenth National Independence Day,
which commemorates Emancipation…failed to honor the 600K Union soldiers who
died to free slaves…
"Save the Post Office" pointed out,
however, "On the same day USPS says it can't cease operations for
Juneteenth because customers are relying on it to deliver essential services,
it proposes slowing down First Class Mail parcels, which often contain
pharmaceuticals," and pointed to the filing on the Postal Regulatory
Commission website.
