Survival Uses For Paper Clips

Safety pins have long been a staple of first aid kits, camping gear and survival gear but don’t underestimate the value and versatility of a good paper clip. There are multiple uses for paper clips aside from clipping things together or closed. Basically, depending on whether you have a large clip or a small clip, you have a piece of thin metal about 3 1/2” to 6” long that can be twisted into different tools like a lock pick or a fishing hook. Here are some uses for paper clips that make them essential to add to your survival gear.

Different Uses

Zipper Pull

We’ve all been there when the zipper pull on a bag or jacket breaks off or comes off and is lost. Just attach a paper clip to the zipper and it will work just as well. It’s a great fix for a tent zipper and a sleeping bag zipper.

Finger Splint

If you break a finger, you can use two straightened paper clips as a splint until you can get professional medical attention. After you bandage the digit up, further secure it by putting a straightened clip on each side and then wrapping more tape around it. This will assure that the finger is immobilized to reduce the pain and further damage.

Sewing Needle

When you don’t have a needle to make repairs to your clothes or tent, a paper clip comes in handy. Straighten the clip and flatten one end with a rock or hammer, then sharpen the other end with a smooth stone or file. Use a hand drill or another sharp tool to puncture a hole in the flat end for the thread to go through. Note: If you don’t have thread, pull the strands from a length of paracord to use with your homemade needle. In otherwords, you need to make sure that you have paracord in your gear. It is also a survival staple.

Compass

In a pinch, a compass can be crafted out of a paper clip, a plastic container with water, a small piece of leaf or paper and a knife. Straighten a paper clip and then break or cut it in half, then run the knife blade down one of the pieces, going in the same direction every time. Do this about 50 to 100 times until the clip piece is magnetized. Pay attention and remember which way you were scraping down the piece because this will be the “North” end. Take the container of water, which needs to be bowl or cup-shaped, and float the leaf or paper, with the piece of clip lying on top. Shortly, the clip will point north.

Eyeglasses Repair

If you depend on eyeglasses to see every day, this is a trick that you definitely need to know, especially, in a survival situation. When you lose a screw from your glasses frame, a paper clip will keep it together. Straighten out the clip and run it through where the screw goes. Twist the ends and trim the excess, then squeeze the clip together with pliers to reduce the movement.

Clothing Hook

If you need to hang a towel up to dry or small articles of clothing on a branch when you’re out in the wild, twist a large paper clip into an “S” shape.

Meat Skewer

In a survival situation, large paper clips can be straightened and used as skewers for pieces of meat or entire small game carcasses. Use another clip to secure the skewer to a stick so that it’s easy to hold it over the fire.

Antenna

If the antenna of your weather radio or walkie-talkie breaks, a large paper clip can come to the rescue. Since it’s metal, it will serve perfectly as an antenna. It can also be used as a signal booster.

Canopy

If you need a makeshift shelter from rain or sun, you can use large paper clips to secure a tarp, blanket or poncho across tree limbs to pitch a canopy.

Fish Hook

With the inner strands of paracord and a paper clip, you can fish in a survival situation. Straighten the clip out and use your multi-tool to make a loop in one end so that you can tie it on your line. Then sharpen the other end on a rock and bend it up into a hook.

Tools You Need

To make it easier to twist and shape your paper clips into survival tools, you need to make sure that you have a spring-loaded pliers style of multi-tool in your gear. (A must-have survival tool that should be in your gear anyway.) Here are two of the best because they are both only 4”, when closed, so that they won’t take-up much room in your pack or bag.

Myths vs Facts [Most are no longer taught how to think]

If we are to ever unbind ourselves from the chains of conventional wisdom, we must first come to understand that we are constantly under assault from government propaganda and government propagandists. Our indoctrination begins at an early age and reaches its peak as we glide through the government indoctrination camps deceptively called public education.

When we are born into a system and we live it for a period of time, we lose our imperative to inquire. We automatically and unconsciously assume that things that are have always been. The system is prescribed.

We accept it, and it becomes a part of us. We don't feel animosity or hostility toward the authority that we are born under. We are all born into conventional wisdom. Every bit of information we get from the very beginning of our existence "sells" us on authority. This goes on through public (non)education and throughout life.

The only acceptable social and moral thing to do then is to accept authority, conform to authority and above all, never question authority, let alone its morality and its modus operandi. Once a person is taught a fact and believes that fact long enough, he or she cannot ponder or contemplate information or a question that challenges the fact. The mind simply cannot process information that conflicts with previously accepted data. Prior conditioning is difficult to challenge.

Psychologists call this quirk of human nature cognitive dissonance. It means the rejection of information not in harmony with previous beliefs.

Here's an example. Conventional wisdom holds that there exists two political parties in America and that they pursue two different agendas. The reality is that there are two names of political parties, but the philosophy and morality of all politicians is the same. Things that are equal to the same thing are equal to each other.

The axiom above brings forth the conclusion that politicians cannot be different and cannot have a different morality than the system and survive as politicians. Therefore, they have to all be the same. The power structure quickly dispenses with a politician who has an honestly opposing morality and philosophy.

If as few as one million Americans knew this truth, the corrupt political system in America would collapse.

Here are a few more mythical ideas we accept as fact, followed by what's really true:

Myth: Government is meant to govern the people

Fact: Government was not created for the people, by the people nor of the people. It was created for and later evolved further for the power and benefit of the elite and their politicians and bureaucrats. Government is not haphazard and bungling. It does everything with careful calculation for the benefit of government and the concealment of its fraud upon the people. It plays one economic class against another, one race against another, and it prostitutes the intellectual elite to conceal the nature of government and its purpose. Government creates the public mind and the public will. It channels human thought, human energy and human production and wealth to itself. It works perfectly for the elite. It is organized crime and organized force at the national and international level. It just doesn't work for the people, it works against them.

Myth: Savings

Fact: This is a myth and a hoax. The money creators cause inflation to melt your savings and retirement while you sleep. Certificates of Deposit and bank accounts do not preserve your savings now — nor will they in the future. In fact, the dollar is inflation. It is created to self-destruct. This is theft by deception. The true meaning of currency destruction with inflation is war upon the people. Instead, if you want your retirement and investments to actually grow, please get the real Investing Rules to Live By.

Myth: Inflation means rising prices.

Fact: Inflation is devaluation of the money through an increase in the supply of money. With more money chasing fewer goods, more and more money is required to make a purchase. Is your house now "worth" $750,000, when it was purchased in 2000 for $175,000? No, your money has far, far less purchasing power. Things are not "worth" more, they cost more because money is worth less.

Myth: America is the land of the free

Fact: When you think of a nation that has millions of citizens under lockdown for illegitimate, dubious or purely political reasons, you probably conjure an image of gulags in Russia, work camps in North Korea, or countries like Iran, or Cuba. Or, maybe some Third World backwater or banana republic dictatorship country might spring to mind.

But the truth is the No. 1 prison nation is the United States. No country incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than the United States. The U.S. houses one-fourth of the world's prison population. The Prison Policy Initiative claims the 2022 prison population for America is almost 2 million people. That's 573 per 100,000 population. 374,000 people are locked up for drug offenses on any given day.

Myth: Your body needs no help

Fact: Impossible with the American diet and the current environment. Eighty percent of Americans are malnourished and the chemical burden we are under requires us to help our bodies with chelation, alkalizing foods, and supplemental nutrients.

Myth: Euthanasia is a quick and painless death.

Fact: Euthanasia can happen over many years as drugs and "immunizations" usually kill slowly. The system can reduce the population without blame if they do it over time so as to separate cause and effect.

Myth: Conventional wisdom is just common sense

Fact: Conventional wisdom is simply what most people believe, not what should be believed. That's because conventional wisdom comes from the news media, public schools, the medical establishment, large churches and the government. It's a lifetime programming process that builds parameters of thought from which few escape.

Becoming immune to mythology

Constant bombardment of word patterns like these penetrate the consciousness, rearranging neuron structure. It is an electro-chemical reaction that dehumanizes the human ego. The result is that man no longer thinks for himself. He thinks the thoughts disseminated to the group. Even though he may not be totally transformed, group thoughts and group dynamics dominate.

This is the esoteric system of American psychiatry. In modern America, if one has an ego, he has a disease that requires treatment. If he questions the mainstream, he is sick, he is "anti-social" and accused of wrongthink. He's a "right-wing fanatic."

We must break free of these myths to become truly wealthy and free. Otherwise, you may become like those "educated" people whose thinking has been sealed within the parameters of education.
