The Poor Man's 4th Year Anniversary Message

Freedom is something that dies unless it is used." - Hunter S. Thompson

Many will hear, but how many read our message?

PM celebrates its 4th year of helping the little guy, the average American to fight government nonsense, to get ahead financially, to encourage self reliance skills, to provide you with educational resources and more.

This is my way of reminding you of our mission statement and purpose…we're all in this together!

The Poor Man represents the real America, the one which stands for traditional values, fiscal responsibility and financial security for those who apply themselves. We've been described as a government watchdog while the "Lame Stream" media have become mere lapdogs of the government and Wall Street.

However, all too often I find all that is missing is your support and input! This past week alone one of our posts received 15 positive comments (Wordpress) but nothing from our Yahoo subscribers…a rather disheartening and discouraging note.

Too many of us are `asleep at the wheel,' and don't read this bulletin. So if you don't read and share our messages, we all lose. Our goal has been to reaffirm America as a country by the people and for the people…something many politicians have forgotten.

If you're like me, you don't even recognize America anymore. It sure isn't the `land of opportunity or freedom' I grew up knowing. Some of the values we stand for include protecting you from government control and its reckless, runaway spending. I often feel like we're wallowing in the midst of chaos.

The reelection of Barack Obama—the worst president of my lifetime—is the perfect opportunity for straight talk about the dangerous path our country is on. Seems that every day we witness more erosion of our Constitution and Bill of Rights…we'd like to keep government out of your life. Government agencies and bureaucrats are literally sucking the lifeblood out of our economic future with its non-stop assault of unlegislated red tape.

But instead of being honest with the American people about just how dire our situation is, our elected officials and the media won't level with us…

Are you a giver or a taker? Do you share the resources provided with like-minded friends? Have you promoted us on your social networks? Have you donated or made a purchase to help us promote our cause? We are in the Top 50 Best Self Reliance sites on the internet and your help is needed to maintain that status…

For the true lover of liberty, it must seem insurmountable to actually live free while the ever-expanding police state continues is perpetual push to dominate or control every aspect of our lives. Can any other conclusion be reached than the state and its ever-increasing legions of bureaucrats (now paid more than private sector workers) have every intention of injecting themselves into every transaction we make? Every transfer of property, every sale, every shipment, every receipt, every message is now tracked, your travel is now monitored, every bank account is logged and/or tagged, tracked and taxed by government agencies and it's even considered a criminal act to avoid such government interference…

Over the past few years, something has changed in our great nation.

Maybe you've recognized it too, just as I have.

The sad truth is, America is a very different place than it was just a dozen or so years ago.

Something is dying in our time. As the nation struggles to recover from unsustainable personal and national debt, stagnant wages, the damages wrought by climate change, the loss of privacy to our government, and more, a whole way of life is drawing to a close…

America's middle class is literally vanishing.

Millions have already been squeezed out—having gone from comfortable to struggling. Some are barely surviving financially.

And millions more are about to follow.

If you have any doubts about this, just look around. We all know or have heard about people who were once comfortably middle class but are now fighting to keep their heads above water.

I'm sure if you are over the age of 40, you recognize these changes too… even if you can't pinpoint exactly what's gone on. At the very least, we are witnessing the near complete loss of Individual Privacy in every element of our lives from banking to internet use.

An ABC news affiliate recently reported that the government is now installing street lamps around the country containing "Homeland security applications," which can record video, audio, and bark orders to people nearby.

In Baltimore, the local government has started a project to record all conversations that take place on public buses…
Also, did you know that our top spy bureau, the National Security Agency (NSA) has now basically turned much of its attention from foreign countries… directly onto U.S. citizens?

In fact, NSA is now building the largest data storage facility on the planet in the middle of the Utah desert.

Of course, the loss of individual privacy does much more than simply damage our identity, our quality of life, and our desirability as a place live, work, and raise a family.

When so many people have access to your personal information, it's inevitable that there will be all kinds of terrible things that happen. What happens is known as "function creep."

This is where data collected for one use can be used for another reason, both legally and illegally.

You know you're no longer living in a free country when the government tells you what you can and cannot put in your body…Or, when an unelected board of bureaucrats and corporate insiders can confiscate the assets of hardworking small business owners.

Yet these have become par for the course in the Land of the Free.

All around you are everyday heroes who refuse to be complicit in the economic mistreatment of other people. It would seem most of us are always at the mercy of someone (or something) else and have little control over lives.

Paycheck inequalities…

Today, one in four U.S. workers earns less than $9 an hour—about $19,000 per year. Thirty-nine percent of the nation's children live in low-income households. And African-American and Latino families are much more likely to be poor or low-income and are less likely to have assets or home equity to offset low wages.

Andrew, a manager in a large food business in the Midwest, told me about the moral dilemma of employing people who can't take care of their families even though they are working hard. This was something that he couldn't pretend was okay. He came to the decision to "do what [he] can" even at the risk of being accused of stealing. "I pad their paychecks because you can't live on what they make. I punch them out after they have left for a doctor's appointment or to take care of someone ... And I give them food to take home...."

Ned, who works in a chain grocery store, detours some of the "product" that doesn't quite pass muster—dented cans, not-quite-fresh produce—to his low-wage employees. "I guess you could say I make the most of that," he said. "I make the most of it. I don't see it as a scam. It's not for me, it's for them. ... At the end of the month ... that's all they have."

Help Us to Help You--And others who need to avoid the mental recession!

We'd like your help. We want PM to be a source of inspiration to stay on track for achieving your goals of self reliance and independence. We're on a mission to help as many of our fellow Americans as possible to rise above the crap the Washington-Wall Street Cartel has imposed on the middle class.

Providing frugal living tips, DIY resources, consumer resources, sideline income ideas, and politically incorrect insights in order to make you and your family more independent has been our goal.
We're open to suggestions for improvement that you might have. Many of the best ideas have come from you. We'd like to keep that going. So please share your suggestions, it's the only way all of us can grow.

I was brought up in a home where it was instilled in us that our mission in life is to help others, even if it is just one person. By blessing others, you bless yourself.

Also, you probably know folks who share our concern for the direction our country has been heading. We know it is late in the process to turn things around, but we must not be found wanting in this time of crisis. Share this website with friends and help us get our numbers into the tens of thousands.

Visit our site often and make an attempt at fostering interaction and sharing with others across our endangered country... find ways to minimize the effects of the politicians, and regulators.
