Boost Your Brain Power…
Anti-Aging Breakthrough:
this game prevents brain aging.
Keep your brain healthy and sharp by playing a video
game? Yes! Top neuroscientists have created an easy
brain-training game dubbed BrainHQ that improves memory, processing speed and
focus—and can cut your risk of dementia nearly in half.
Who Can Benefit?
Everyone! “By the
time we reach 50th birthday nearly half of us will develop
dementia,” notes Michael Merzenich,
Ph.D., professor emeritus of meuroscientist at the University of California,
San Francisco. The mind exercise program
was based on a 10-year study that proved the brain can help keep itself sharp
well into our 70s and even into our 90s.
What’s Involved?
A series of computer-generated exercises are used to rev
the speed at which you process visual information. That, in turn, re-energizes your brain’s
neural pathways and reduces the risk of future cognitive decline. The exercises, which get a little faster with
every session, challenge you to expand your focus and distinguish between
visual subtleties. “They gradually drive
you to reconstruct what you see in front of the brain, so that you can make
decisions about what you see faster and respond faster,” says Dr.
Merzenich. And these changes have proven
long-lasting beneficial effects.
Exactly How Effective is it?
An extensive 10-year study, presented at the Alzheimer’s
Association Conference in Toronto, found that just 10 hours of speed training
with the technology used in BrainHQ lowers the long-term risk of dementia
33%. And speed training for 18 hours
cuts the risk 48% -- even a decade down the road. What’s more, previous findings prove that
BrainHQ exercises improve your quality of life by lifting your mood, overall
health and even making you a better driver.
A free version is offered and it comes with four
brain-training exercises, five courses and challenges. They also offer subscription based options
based on your preferences and performance.

>>Bonus Note:
Read books, live
longer! Adding years to your life is as
easy picking up a book. A recent Social Science & Medicine study fund
that adults who read three and half hours a week were almost 25% more likely to
outlive non-readers, adding about two to three years to their lives. Reading keeps you sharp, which may reduce
your rate of accidents and help you make healthy choices.
I
surely hope that your New Year’s resolution for 2017 will be to read more, and
I don’t mean the gossip rags.
If
you are too busy to read, you are too busy and foolishly so. Reading has
everything to do with your health, your wealth and your happiness on this
earth. I find that serious readers are scarce… very scarce.
Turn
off the television. It’s feeding you nothing but garbage and state propaganda.
Let’s do away with the frivolity and nonsense and get into real living and the
real world. Simple people think frivolity is living. What a deception and what
a waste.
Read,
read, read and insist that your children read.
You
should read to your young children and grandchildren yourself. You will be
surprised out of your mind how they will blossom, and it will last the rest of
their lives.
What Makes Humans Smart-And
so Stupid?
The
evolution of human intelligence puzzles scientists. We can trace the growth of
our brains from the earliest Home Sapiens some 200,000 years ago but no one
seems able to explain how we inexplicably had a burst of intelligence roughly
35,000 - 50,000 years ago…
The Great Leap Forward began around 35,000 to 50,000
years ago…
It was the period when human evolution picked up considerable momentum and our ancestors began to evolve at a much faster pace.
It was the period when human evolution picked up considerable momentum and our ancestors began to evolve at a much faster pace.
Ironically, for the
past 10,000 years, our brains have been shrinking by a full 15% today!

With
gas prices on the rise, I thought I’d highlight an article I found on Consumer
Reports about ways to save on gas… and ways not to. I live in MI where the
roads are in a perpetual state of disrepair and tire and rim blow-outs are a
daily occurrence…The state government just jacked the fuel tax another 7.5
cents per gallon and it already has the highest auto insurance rates in the
nation. The state motto for its DMV is “We
take the pleasure out of driving.” Given the results of my latest
experiment on improving gas mileage, I can vouch for pretty much all of these.
Yours for a pleasant & productive
2017,

Mighty thoughtful piece for the New Year. You're correct in that fewer folks today seem to read, and that seems to mirror why America has dropped in so many categories and I blame a lot of that on our educational system and less parental interaction with their children.
Nice page and freebies-useful info for all!
After the New Year Eve's party we had, I need some brain boosting! Actually, this post contained some great stuff! My brother-in-law could use a brain transplant!
