Power
restored after NYC transformer fire causes blackout in part of Manhattan,
officials say (Sparky1)
Just before midnight, Con
Edison CEO John McAvoy said in a news conference that all 73,000 customers
affected by the outage in Midtown Manhattan and the Upper West Side had power
restored. At its peak, the outage affected an area from 71st Street south to
42nd Street and east from the West Side Highway to Fifth Avenue.
Your home is
your fortress, and it is your first and most important line of defense against
someone who intends to do you harm.
In the current world, locked doors and perhaps a home security
system is more than enough to deter most burglars. However, disaster breeds
desperation, and once the SHTF, many people will suddenly be willing to work a
lot harder to enter a home if they think there is anything worth stealing
inside.
Before disaster strikes, it’s important to have a plan in place
for how to fortify your home in order to protect against burglars and looters.
In this article, we’ll look at nine things that you can do to fortify your home
before all hell breaks loose...
Tiny Home Hustle: Building
a Business with Less Inputs
Tiny homes may cut down on overall inputs to allow a growing business to thrive.
In the
preparedness world, we constantly hear about how you can’t bug out unless you
have your own property to go to. This secure property is supposed to have a
home, livestock, possibly a bunker, a lush garden, a nearby stream, and so much
more.
This idea of the ultimate bug out location creates the stigma that
if you don’t have land, you can’t bug out, and thus, you are doomed; especially
if you live in the city. There are a lot of people who don’t own land, but we
still need to be prepared to bug out if need be.
So what if you don’t have land? Or access to land? Or any resources
to acquire land in the near future..?
“The majority of our farms
are parttime, in that the owner typically has offfarm income,” wrote Gail
McWilliam Jellie, director of the state’s Division of Agricultural Development,
in an email response to the Monitor. “This doesn’t necessarily mean they are
hobby farms, but farms that may be in various stages of development. You have
to start somewhere.”
The Palantir user guide shows
that police can start with almost no information about a person of interest and
instantly know extremely intimate details about their lives. The capabilities
are staggering, according to the guide.
“An armed society is a polite
society.”
“I chose firearms for the affect it would have on social
discourse,” the killer wrote in a document he released to explain his crimes.
“The gun owners of New Zealand are a beaten, miserable bunch of baby boomers,
who have long since given up the fight. When was the last time they won
increased rights? Their loss was inevitable. I just accelerated things a bit.”
Politicians fulfilled the
murderer’s predictions with panic-driven legislation.

“After nearly six years of
fighting … I will once again be able to legally plant vegetables in my front
yard,” Ricketts said in a statement. “I’m grateful to the Legislature and the
governor for standing up to protect my freedom to grow healthy food on my own
property.”
There are more than 20
companies erecting indoor farms around the country — another Bay Area player is
San Mateo’s Crop One, which is building a giant farm in Dubai. Industry leaders
say vertical farms can be a solution at a time when labor shortages, drought
and climate change threaten outdoor agriculture as well as bring fresh produce
to regions that lack arable land. These farms are springing up all over the
world, including Japan, the Netherlands and Antarctica.Vertical farm Plenty

I live outside of Detroit too & am 'thunderstruck' by how often power goes out here-you're right, much of this area resembles a 3rd world nation, yet we're constantly taxed at higher rates than other nearby states.
As always - great info! Congress is so busy investigating our president that they've ignored our power grid for decades...it's probably a 'manufactured crises.'
