People constantly speak of 'the government' doing this or that, as they might speak of God doing it. But the government is really nothing but a group of men, and usually they are very inferior men." -- H.L. Mencken
How
to Make Weapons
If you are ever faced with an imminent or active life threatening attack you can significantly increase your chances of survival by creating an improvised weapon out of everyday items that you would find around the house, on the street, or in the woods.
Creating basic improvised weapons in most instances is not a complicated process. This skill, like any other survival skills requires improvisation with the materials at hand.
Inmates in many high security prisons have mastered the art of the improvised puncture weapon. If you ever get the chance to see a display of confiscated prison shanks you will observe that the ingenuity is quite impressive.
To illustrate this point with an extreme case, inmates in some prisons have been caught melting down thin plastic packaging and molding it into rigid weapons.
A weapon is generally considered to be any instrument used in fighting,
hunting, attack, or self defense.
It should be noted
that weapons can be as plain as a stone or baton, or a little more advanced,
such as, a pistol that would inflict harm on one person, or as complex as a
rocket launcher or ballistic missile that can inflict harm on many people.
Combat was
initially referred as an armed conflict between two military forces in warfare,
but now the terms ‘combat’ and ‘fighting’ are taken as one, and hence the general
definition of Combat is: The act of
fighting any contest or violent conflict with the purpose to establish
supremacy over the opposing party.
Weapons and Combat
are closely related for the reason that typically, combat is mostly done with
the use of weapons. There also can be combat without weapons, generally
referred to as: Unarmed Combat.
There is another
form of combat, known close combat, where the opponents fight at a close range as opposed to fighting from
a distance. During this type of fight, hand to hand combat weapons are used or
no weapons are used. Usually considered the best combat weapons are a sword,
knife, baton or tomahawk.
Weapons need not
be hard to obtain when you can make your own homemade weapons. This category
you will find a lot of exclusive and interesting information on improvised and homemade weapons and combat. Including information on
how to make weapons, for both individual combat and close combat.

Quartzfest 2013
The Poor Man has been to Quartzsite and it’s an
interesting little area to visit…
Quartzfest* www.quartzfest.org
is a Ham Radio gathering in Quartzsite AZ during the RV show in January (Jan 15
- 26th). Quartzfest is a 10 day event full of seminars and workshops on Ham
Radio and operational techniques, Alternative Energy (mainly solar) and RV'ing
and to my knowledge is the only event of its kind in the world. This year we're
hoping to add seminars on Prepping and Survivalist Techniques. Go here for more
information.

Mill Your Own Flour
It's a known frugal fact that baking your own bread can save a bundle of money. Using sourdough and milling your own flour can cut the cost of a loaf of bread to mere pennies and it's much better for you than that white fluff that comes already sliced

It seems that no aspect of American life can escape
government regulation. In the past year, regulators drafted rules that
addressed everything from caloric intake to dishwasher efficiency.
Most of these rules increase the cost of living, others hinder job creation, and many erode freedom. Not all regulations are unwarranted, of course, but increasingly, the rules imposed by the government have less to do with health and safety and more to do with whether government or individuals get to make basic pocketbook and lifestyle decisions that affect them. And it is not just the regulators who are to blame. Congress writes laws that give unelected bureaucrats the broad powers they wield.

On average, each additional serving of
saturated fat-filled red meat was associated with a 13% higher risk of dying
during the 28-year study. Processed meat products such as hot dogs, bacon, and
salami were especially hazardous. The antidote? Eating more fish, poultry, whole
grains, and low-fat dairy may lower your risk of dying prematurely.

When Free Speech No Longer Matters-Government run amok
On December 31, 2011, President Obama signed the Department of Defense Authorization Act into law. This is normally the routine annual budget for the Pentagon. But inserted into this year’s bill is language giving the president the authority to use the military to imprison terrorism suspects — including US citizens — indefinitely, and without charges.
In other words, the “great writ” of habeas corpus is in danger of repeal. No longer would the government have to justify to a judge why it holds someone in custody.
“Take away this great writ,” writes The Future of Freedom Foundation’s Jacob Hornberger, “and all other rights — such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, gun ownership, due process, trial by jury and protection from unreasonable searches and seizures and cruel and unusual punishments — become meaningless.”
Without habeas corpus, you could be thrown in prison for the “terrorist” act of criticizing the government and the government would never have to declare the precise reason it hauled you away. And in theory at least, the First Amendment would still be in force!
“This defense bill,” says The Rutherford Institute’s John Whitehead, “not only decimates the due process of law and habeas corpus for anyone perceived to be an enemy of the United States, but it radically expands the definition of who may be considered the legitimate target of military action.”
“This bill will not only ensure that we remain in a perpetual state of war — with this being a war against the American people — but it will also institute de facto martial law in the United States.”
The Pentagon has distributed $2.6 billion in military
surplus to local police agencies since 1997. Thus do towns of only a few
thousand people have their own SWAT teams. Time was their use was limited to
hostage-takings and other high-stakes situations. SWAT raids nationwide
numbered only 3,000 per year in the early 1980s, according to University of
Eastern Kentucky criminologist Peter Kraska.
Nowadays, SWAT teams are used to serve routine warrants. By the time Kraska stopped counting in the mid-2000s, the annual number had exploded to 50,000 — an average of more than 135 per day.
