Income inequality has surged dramatically over the last four decades, according to The New York Times on Sunday.

According to The Huffington Post, Congressional Democrats released a study Thursday that demonstrated how Wal-Mart’s wages are so low that many of its workers must rely on food stands and other government aid programs, costing taxpayers as much as $900,0000 at just one Wal-Mart Supercenter in Wisconsin.

The report, “The Low-Wage Drag on Our Economy,” was produced by Democrats with the House Committee on Education and the Workforce .

It explains that it chose Wisconsin as its state of study because of its data being the most recent, allowing the study to employ the state’s Medicaid data to discern the annual cost taxpayers pay in order to provide the food stamp and publicly subsidized health care programs to those Supercenter workers who require it.

The US has both the highest living standards for the rich and also the largest inequality among the large, advanced, nations.

“Extreme, fixed, inequality is a recipe for disaster in a society that claims to be democratic and socially fluid.” Households with less than $500,000 in net worth are still in the thick of recession, according to a recent study by the Pew Research Center.

In 1970, the richest 1 percent of Americans enjoyed 9 percent of total national pre-tax income,” NYT stated. “In 2011, by contrast, that share had risen to 19.8 percent.”

Meanwhile tax rates for the highest echelon of taxpayers have tumbled, and American voters have lost faith in partisan politicians’ ability to control the situation.

“It seems like a paradox,” NYT stated. “Americans are increasingly worried about the gap between rich and poor, but are hesitant to have the government do anything about it.”

Creating Value

But a wide gulf between dirt poor and filthy rich doesn’t benefit either party in the long run, according to Business Insider. That’s because meager wages are a recipe empty wallets — and people with empty wallets don’t spend a lot of money, which adversely affects rich people’s ability to get richer.

“The best way to fix inequality is to persuade the overlords that it is in their best interests to share more of their wealth by paying their employees more for their hard work (work that, not incidentally, is what makes the overlords rich),” BI’s Henry Blodget wrote. “Persuade companies that it’s better to focus on creating value rather than just profit.”

·         The Real Numbers: Half of America in Poverty -- and It's Creeping toward 75%

The Census Bureau has reported that one out of six Americans lives in poverty. A shocking figure. But it's actually much, much worse…

Inequality is spreading like a shadowy disease through our country, infecting more and more households, and leaving a shrinking number of financially secure families to maintain the charade of prosperity.

1. Almost half of Americans had NO assets in 2009

Analysis of  Economic Policy Institute data shows that Mitt Romney's famous  47 percent, the alleged 'takers,' have taken nothing. Their debt exceeded their assets in 2009.

It’s even worse three years later…

How to Rebuild Your Credit After Bankruptcy

About 1.2 million Americans filed for bankruptcy in 2012. If you were one of them, you’ve likely heard that bankruptcy will stay on your credit reports for 10 years.

You might be assuming your life is over – at least financially – for the next decade. But you’d be wrong.

Bankruptcy does do major damage to your credit scores, but you can take action right now to turn things around and rebuild your credit. In the video below Money Talks News founder Stacy Johnson explains the steps you need to take.

DIY First Aid Kit

My wife took an EMT training program and I’ve taken several Red Cross first aid classes over the years (we’re due to renew soon too).

First aid equipment should always be water-proofed, and using ziplock baggies is inexpensive, light-weight & easy. If I go anywhere, a first aid kit is always with me:

  • EMT Sheers (1)
  • Ace Bandage (1-2)
  • 2 in. Coban wrap, 2+yards in length
  • Gauze Wrap (5)
    • individually packaged, then all in their own larger water proof bag

The items below are in their own large water proof bag, some items are grouped together in smaller baggies for ease of use and for organizational purposes. This is the ziplock bag I carry everywhere, it never leaves my Bag.

  • Moleskin and Blister bandages
  • 1" Coban wrap, 2+ yards
  • Extra pair of boot laces
  • Small bottle of Tylenol
  • Medium mixed bottle of Ibuprofen, Naproxin, and Excedrin
  • A couple tabs of Sudaphed
  • Gold Bond body powder (travel size)
  • Blistex lip balm
  • Butterfly bandaged
  • Super Glue (liquid bandage)
  • Assorted Band-Aids (20)
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Neosporin
  • Eye drops
  • 1/2" water proof adhesive tape
  • Folding toothbrush (travel size)
  • Tooth paste (travel size)

Where Does Your Clutter Go?

There are several options for turning clutter into cash: Craigslist or eBay, garage sale or flea market. The old adage about one person's trash being another's treasure is surely borne out by the popularity (and success) of these reseller operations. It's a near lock that someone will be thrilled to buy your gently used coffee table or George Foreman grill at a discount. Meanwhile, you rake in some extra dough and de-clutter your living environment in one fell swoop.

But in the face-off of Craigslist vs eBay vs garage sale, which is the best way to unload unwanted goods?

The Nanny State-We love our government

As I reported after the Boston Bombing, this was just a trial run for police to lock down a city using our now highly militarized police (funded by DHS).  Despite the fact it was a civilian who found the ‘terrorist’ (just as in the case of DHS never having caught a terrorist in airports despite a nearly $9 billion budget), federal agencies have a big interest in locking down cities as reported in CQ Weekly (a must-read publication for all Congress & their staff)

May 6th issue…After Boston, Expect more Lockdowns:

In the days following the manhunt, mayors, police departments across the country will be studying the events in Boston to better prepare for such responses in their own communities.  Terrorism wins again under the guise of public safety as our rights are routinely bashed…

Most credible counter terrorism experts say the government’s reaction in Boston  is the wrong way and instead of fighting terrorism, it helps terrorism.

According to the US Army Terrorism Center at West Point “We can’t think of any terror attack, regardless of how horrendous, when life has come to a standstill.”

Further, the post said’ We won’t give into terrorism but that’s exactly what happened.  It tells future terrorists that all you have to do is pick up a few guns and you can shut down an entire city.”

It’s been another shocking week of news about the U.S. government's police state surveillance of Americans. Something the Poor Man has written about for several years now.

For starters, Obama has now admitted and confirmed that all Verizon mobile phone users have their phone call data and geographic location tracked and archived by the NSA.

But the even larger story is that secret documents have been leaked to the Washington Post, revealing a massive government spying operation that captures, scans and records all the files, phone calls, text messages, logins and everything else that takes place under all the following services:

Google Mail, Yahoo Mail, AOL, Skype, Apple, Hotmail, Facebook and YouTube.

It is the largest government spying operation ever uncovered in the history of the world. Even users of Google Drive are having all their files scanned and archived by the NSA.

The Parting Thought:  These days, "freedom" mainly refers to fairy-tale mass movements.

Vanishing Prepper Supplies

“According to a new poll, more than three-quarters (76 percent) of preppers believe the most likely disaster that will wreak havoc is an economic collapse. An economic collapse is defined as “a devastating breakdown of a national, regional, or territorial economy.”
The
survey was conducted with 1,840 prepper respondents and many involved in the preparation industry concur with the survey’s conclusions.”

It’s no secret that our current currency and economic system are nothing more than a mirage, a figment of the collective imagination. Our national debt is in the trillions. Most of us struggle to stay free from debt, some of us fight daily to reduce the amount of debt we have, so we are all aware of how difficult it is to pay off loans and get back into the ‘green’ of things. It is an illusion to think our country will ever be solvent enough to repay the debt it owes to the international banking community. One way we can ensure our own protection is by purchasing vanishing survival supplies in bulk before they actually disappear.

Fact #1:
26 once bustling American cities are now bankrupt for the first time in history.

Fact #2:
Warren Buffett, John Paulson and numerous other billionaires are now dumping U.S. stocks as fast as they can sell them.

Fact #3:
Germany, Switzerland and Denmark are in the process of pulling ALL of their gold OUT of the United States.

Fact #4:
Russia, China and Brazil are moving quickly towards creating a new central bank with one purpose... to replace the dollar...

On top of all of this, China and Japan are now boycotting the U.S. dollar for trading purposes...

These are financial bombshells that should have the hair on your neck standing up.

Why are so many well informed entities trying to get out of the U.S. economy?

It's simple. They know our country is on a collision course and they're bracing for impact.
