Eleven ways to know if you live in a country run by "idiots"

Canadian Government Warns Citizens to Watch Out for US Police Robbing Them

Over 61,000 of these incidents have occurred since 9/11, resulting in $2.5 billion being seized. American police are targeting their northern neighbors, according to a travel warning from the Canadian government.

FBI Facial Recognition System Is Now Fully Operational

According to MyFoxNY, the Federal Bureau of Investigation just launched its Next Generation Identification program, which is made up of two databases called Rap Back and Interstate Photo System. The Interstate Photo System facial recognition service, according to a press release by the FBI, “will provide the nation’s law enforcement community with an investigative tool that provides an image-searching capability of photographs associated with criminal identities.” Rap Back delivers criminal record status updates on individual suspects of interest who might have found themselves on the wrong side of the law in other jurisdictions.

Economic Patriotism: U.S. Ranks Near Last In Tax Competitiveness

As Democrats clamor to punish U.S. businesses who seek more favorable tax climates by relocating abroad, a new report finds that only two developed nations on the entire planet have a tax code less friendly to business than the United States. Read More…

Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa -- the emerging markets known as BRICS -- created a bank meant to rival the Federal Reserve and the International Monetary Fund. It's designed to provide an alternative to the dollar-centric institutions, and increase the value of their own currencies around the globe.

"The next real war we fight is likely to be on American soil. Our civilian-military face-off"

All governments need crisis, no matter how much lip service they give to the idea of “peace.” Crisis is a well-known Machiavellian strategy to gain and solidify political power and persuade public opinion. Crisis provides the stage where governments can control all sides. We also sometimes call this the ‘Wag the Dog’ syndrome, diverting the attention of the citizen away from how the government is relieving them of their rights or cash or both.

Conventional Wisdom Is A Mass Illusion »
A recent poll by Rasmussen found that more than one-third of Americans had no clue which parties control the House and Senate. What a sad commentary that such a basic bit of information — taken for granted by this audience — is lost on an American populace so distracted by bread and circuses. More »

Injustice Department? Telephone call reveals Holder's lawless agency

A story that should have -- or would have -- garnered more coverage by major news organizations failed to achieve its proper attention thanks to the frenzy over the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria's murderous rampage, the media's obsession with football star Ray Rice's domestic violence story, and the media's knee-jerk protection of a failed President Barack Obama. In fact, not one Sunday morning news show even mentioned how the Justice Department attempted to conspire with a Democrat lawmaker to allegedly sabotage the probe of the Internal Revenue Service's targeting of conservative nonprofit organizations.  More at:  http://www.examiner.com/article/injustice-department-telephone-call-reveals-holder-s-lawless-agency

NSA Continues to Spy on Germany

It's no secret that the NSA's spies have been busy in Germany. However, it's now apparent that their activities in the country may reach much further than just targeting important leaders and suspects. Der Spiegel has published leaks showing that the US agency broke into the networks of both tech giant Deutsche Telekom and regional provider Netcologne as part of an effort to map as much of the internet as possible…

“I tell you, freedom and human rights in America are doomed. The U.S. government will lead the American people in — and the West in general — into an unbearable hell and a choking life.”—Osama bin Laden (October 2001), as reported by CNN

Obama is Like Nero, Fiddling While We Burn

What a strange and harrowing road we’ve walked since September 11, 2001, littered with the debris of our once-vaunted liberties. We have gone from a nation that took great pride in being a model of a representative democracy to being a model of how to persuade a freedom-loving people to march in lockstep with a police state.

What began with the passage of the USA Patriot Act in October 2001 has snowballed into the eradication of every vital safeguard against government overreach, corruption and abuse.

The breadth of global instability unfolding hasn’t been seen since the 1970s [or WWI and WWII] and we’ve never had a leader so ill equipped to handle the global chaos we see.

John Kerry reminds me of Neville Chamberlain during WWII, sucking up to Hitler and nothing makes the world more unsafe than American weakness.  Since 2008 we have seen the administration more interested in spying on its allies and own citizens while brushing off dangerous enemies.

My relatives in Germany tell me the majority of the country no longer likes or trusts America. In July, German Chancellor Merkel ordered our CIA station chief to leave the country.  Other leaders in that nation chastised her for not being forceful enough. It is fair to say we have managed to alienate our friends while emboldening radical Islamic terrorists.

Although not reported in US news channels, Germany is growing its army into a EuroArmy.  For the first time in history a European army handed over part of its army to another…The Dutch Army handed over 11th Airmobile brigade to the German military.

It is easy to see why so many recognize the huger power vacuum we’ve caused in the Middle East and elsewhere.  Yet, many of our poorly educated wish more of the same by cheering Mrs. Clinton on to run for president – our nation does not need spineless leadership. Those who support more of the same are just another special breed of idiot.

Finally, a new trade agreement which creates a powerful trading bloc has been reach between Europe and four countries in South America [Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay].

Ultimately, the ramifications for our country means we’ll likely be left out in the cold and will no longer call the shots.

Long time readers already know how I feel about out our lack of leadership, our incredible unmanageable debt and the un-Patriot Act – it is an affront to every freedom loving American, which seems to be a shrinking class of citizen!

If you are among the thinking, consider:  Sign the Petition to Repeal the Patriot Act

Advice from Dear Slavey – the recent government shutdown was a preview…

Middle Class Americans, here are the key things to do NOW:

1) STOP using credit cards. And unless you already own your house outright, don’t even think of buying one. The prices are still horribly inflated and once the collapse comes, your equity will evaporate. The first things that will happen when the government defaults on its debt is a swift collapse of the dollar and a massive interest rate increase. Banks will be panicking and trying to survive. They’ll call in all their loans and attempt to get whatever they can from you if you have debt or a mortgage. Seriously, cut up your credit cards now and pay them off ASAP. Or if you can’t do that while continuing to eat and especially if you rent and have no assets, and your credit rating is already horrible, just stop paying them, especially if you owe $20,000 or less. By the time they start coming after you, so many people will be defaulting they won’t bother with the folks who don’t owe them substantial amounts of money and have nothing they can seize and sell.

2) STOP buying anything but food, water, precious metals, solar panels, gardening supplies, and the materials to build an outhouse in the backyard. Stock up on food and water, enough canned food and water to last your family two or three months. And if you live in a house, or have property, dig a deep hole, build an outhouse and buy the chemicals you need to keep it hygienic, because if the collapse comes there will be no utilities for a while. Convert to solar (they’re starting to sell solar panels at IKEA in Europe – hopefully here soon), and start growing your own food inside and outside your home.

3) STOP thinking any large corporation values your work and spend your free time working on developing your own small business if you’re in a typical 9-5 job. Obamacare has a hidden feature, it’s no longer viable for large employers to hire you full time because they’ll be forced to provide health benefits if they do. I have friends – a LOT of them – who used to make $70K plus with excellent educational backgrounds (useless pieces of paper these days) making $16 bucks an hour now doing the same jobs they used to be paid twice as much to do even five years ago who are fired every six months, then rehired by a different department in the same company two weeks later – or just let go – to keep them part time. Get out of the rat race as soon as you can and be your own boss. If this guy can start his own business, you have no excuse.

4) Maintain relationships with people you know will have your back and make a plan to take care of each other when the shit hits the fan. Look what happened in Acapulco when no government agency was there to do anything for them last month. Jeff Berwick and many others jumped in and kept people alive on their own. We have to be prepared in advance to have the resources to do that for ourselves as well.

I 100% agree with this article. It’s one thing to read about prepping here and there but to be a “better prepper” you really do have to learn new skills, prioritize your preps, and be involved in the community. I know many people choose to do that by leaving comments, others via forums, but there…

The Nanny State-We love our government

The Parting Thought – Nothing to worry in the land of the free!

Bureaucracies force us to practice nonsense. And if you rehearse nonsense, you may one day find yourself the victim of it.
―
Laurence Gonzales

It’s a sobering reality to most of us that we are not in control of our lives.  Your life is no longer your own!

Comrade Citizen-You Must Comply… Ich fühle mich glücklich.

The illusion of control is the tendency for people to overestimate their ability to control events, for instance to feel that they control outcomes that they demonstrably have no influence over such as government regulation. Example:  You no longer have any personal or financial privacy thanks to government interference and requirements.  The effect was named by psychologist Ellen Langer

Can anyone tell me where the local, state or federal government doesn’t have control over our/your business or personal lives?  Each year the government, at every level, strives to dominate and control every aspect of our lives from the bedroom to the boardroom.  Increasingly, citizens have less and less say-so in how our government dominates our lives.

"We the people" The preamble of our constitution begins with these words. Nonetheless our nation was conceived with individual rights and freedoms. The word "I" which represents the individual, we all have an individuality of our own, yet government at every level has sought to eliminate individual rights much like Communist regimes.

There are two things that control our lives and the way we live them. Our behavior and attitudes and lifestyle are governed by them.

Definition of Politics: The activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, esp. the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power.

Some people prefer being controlled, to have others do the thinking for them.  I recall when I was drafted into the service (against my will) how many of us laughed at what we called “lifers,” those who spent their 20 or so years in the service because they got their ‘three squares a day, clothing, and were told what to do – they didn’t have to think for themselves about much of anything.’

Most pencil-pushing bureaucrats are like this as well.  They’re unable to do anything outside of the massive book of rules and regulation.  They simply do their time and get out unable to think on their own even if the ‘rule’ winds up costing the taxpayer untold extra time and money to accomplish something in an efficient manner…this is one of the reasons why government costs us so much and squanders untold billions of our national resources…too stupid to think on their own but oh so willing to demand that citizens obey like little robots.

Most people are still deluded into believing they are free but Truth is only as real as our delusion allows.  The fact is the United States has become an Orwellian delusion or like the opener from the old TV show The Outer Limits.

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image; make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to the outer limits.

Great moments in bureaucratic stupidity: requiring a disaster plan for a magician’s rabbit

And yet the bureaucracy wonders why we laugh and point at them. Magician Marty Hahne received a letter from the US Department of Agriculture ordering him to submit a disaster plan for the rabbit he uses in his act:

My USDA rabbit license requirement has taken another ridiculous twist. I just received an 8 page letter from the USDA, telling me that by July 29 I need to have in place a written disaster plan, detailing all the steps I would take to help get my rabbit through a disaster, such as a tornado, fire, flood, etc. They not only want to know how I will protect my rabbit during a disaster, but also what I will do after the disaster, to make sure my rabbit gets cared for properly.  I am not kidding–before the end of July I need to have this written rabbit disaster plan in place, or I am breaking the law.

Oh, he also has to prove he’s received training in how to implement Operation Save The Bunny.

My plan: In the event of disaster, Mr. Hippity-Hop is on his own.

As I was writing this a newscast (in MI) announced a legislator wants to pass a law making it illegal to smoke in your own vehicle if there is someone under 18 in the car…

Will the Nanny State ever stop meddling in our lives and just leave us alone?

Flea Markets:The Last Example of a Free Economy? Not if Regulators Have Their Way.

Bruce’s Poor Man Survival Bulletin

My wife and I enjoy flea markets, antique shows, church bazaars, estate sales and such.  They are one of the few areas of true free enterprise left in the country.  Thrift stores in many states have become a waste of time.  Organizations like Goodwill pay their CEOs 6-figure salaries while some ‘challenged employees’ earn as little as 22 cents an hour according to a recent 60 Minutes segment.

Besides that, these so-called thrift stores have begun skimming all the good stuff off the top and selling them online, cheating their customers leaving only tons of overpriced Target store rejects which usually have defects.

It’s also irritating to see many states collect sales taxes on used merchandise.  Another case of a double-dipping government or as my friends say, the “G” stands for gouge the citizen.

Most dealers at flea markets will wheel and deal and many of those folks that I know have been setting up at these venues for years.  There are many famous flea markets which have bit the dust in the past few years due to commercial expansion such as the old Park n Swap market near Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix.  I went there every single week when I attended ASU and loved to watch area Native Americans craft jewelry and leather goods.

Indeed, I frequently purchased wholesale lots of turquoise jewelers from these artisans and resold them to shop keepers in my home town of Cleveland in order to make extra cash for school (thank God for the GI Bill)!

Nanny State Regulators

If you regularly attend flea markets and collectibles shows, you may be familiar with fly-by-night operators who travel around the country selling stolen, counterfeit and pirated goods. The retail industry is lobbying legislators to pass regulations to help reduce what it calls "organized retail crime," which includes theft by shoplifters and employees for resale.

In a
Boston Business Journal article titled, "Retailers return to State House to push bill that would crack down on organized crime," I read with great interest that legislators had stripped out certain elements of a bill - "such as a proposed ban on the sale of certain items in flea markets,..."

I could not find the original bill, but found
this article about legislation in Indianapolis enacted last year that subjects flea markets to the same rules as pawn shops.

According to the article, flea market operators must be licensed if they sell certain types of products and are required to collect information from anyone who sells them such items, similar to regulations already in effect for
pawn shops.

"The law requires flea market operators to collect a thumb print from the seller, and keep records of the person's driver license or other photo identification. It also requires a ledger be kept with a description of what the person looks like and the license tag on the vehicle they were driving. Finally, the law requires that "regulated items" cannot be sold until 10 days after the information about the seller and the item is submitted to a police database."

What do you think of the push to crack down on the sale of stolen and counterfeit goods at flea markets? It's not just a matter of harm to manufacturers and retailers - product safety is at issue, such as the case with baby formula. But on the other hand, flea markets are the ultimate free market enterprise

How to Buy Used Canning Equipment
Whether you're looking for used canning jars, used canners or other second hand canning equipment, know what to look for or you'll be wasting time and money buying inferior or even dangerous equipment.

NEVER use credit cards or credit again.

Financial Highway has been warning of the dangers of credit cards with posts such as Why Credit Cards Can Be So Devastating and Your Credit Card is Not An Emergency Fund. I am also a big advocate of giving up using credit all together and if I ever buy another house I plan to use cash, in fact I have Pledged to Never Use Credit Again.

Credit is basically borrowing money that you do not have and for anyone seriously wanting to be frugal it’s absolutely nuts to even consider taking on more debt in any form, if your car is falling apart, so be it, take the first tip in this article and walk. if you need to get a new phone, get a $10 phone from Virgin and get by until you have the cash to buy a more expensive phone. There really are no excuses when you think about it!

California Police Arrest A Man Videotaping Them In Public And Then Shoot His Dog After It Leaps From Car

A videotape out of Hawthorne, California (15 miles out of Los Angeles) is raising questions not only about police arresting a man for videotaping them in public but shooting the man's dog when it comes to his aide. Warning: the arrest of Leon Rosby, 52, shown below, is a disturbing video with a graphic scene of the shooting of his dog, Max.

The Parting Thought – Not to worry in the land of the free!

Dear Unconcerned Citizen…

The government is never here to protect you. And, as the US government yet again proved, all they can do is cause damage. The free market takes care of itself just fine on the Internet. The thought that some government agency can do what technology companies and organizations around the world already do is ludicrous.

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) develops and promotes Internet standards (effectively the free market architects of the internet), cooperating closely with the W3C and ISO/IEC standards bodies and dealing in particular with standards of the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP). It is an open standards organization, with no formal membership or membership requirements and all participants and managers are volunteers.

"There has been a complete change in how people perceive the world," since Snowden exposed the NSA's massive surveillance efforts, and while "not a silver bullet," the chief technologist at security firm RSA notes, "anything that improves trust in this digital world is a noble aim."

The IETF held emergency meetings after Snowden let people know of the NSA’s activities.

From the Financial Times:

Key architects of the internet have started to fight back against US and UK snooping programmes by drawing up an ambitious plan to defend traffic over the world wide web against mass surveillance.

The Internet Engineering Task Force, a body that develops internet standards, has proposed a system in which all communication between websites and browsers would be shielded by encryption.

So, while Napolitano is warning that we need government to protect the internet the free market on the internet itself is working to protect itself from government!

THE US GOVERNMENT: FURTHER DESTROYING THE US ECONOMY

While the US government claims to be trying to protect US based internet businesses they have actually been mortally damaging them.

From Breitbart.com:

An industry group, the Cloud Security Alliance said last month that 10 percent of its non-US members have cancelled a contract with a US-based cloud provider, and 56 percent said they were less likely to use an American company.

Translated into hard dollar amounts, another report this month from the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) said US cloud providers stand to lose $22-$35 billion over the next three years because of the publicity surrounding the PRISM program. The overall distrust among consumers and businesses in other countries will affect US tech industry bottom line as well. "The risk is that a country like Germany will say you have to be a German company to provide data services in Germany," Daniel Castro, author of the ITIF report told AFP. "I don't think that helps anyone. We do benefit from free trade and the robust competitiveness in the tech industry."

According to the report, the US dominates cloud computing market both inside the US and around the globe. US firms could see loses between 10-20% of the international market over the next few years.

Castro explained that the NSA dragnet "will likely have an immediate and lasting impact on the competitiveness of the US cloud computing industry if foreign customers decide the risks of storing data with a US company outweigh the benefits."
