Fleeing High Tax, Anti-Freedom States-Help is Available

Two years ago I performed a study on the top 10 worst states in terms high taxes and ones which had become the most anti-freedom in terms of their anti-gun laws, asset forfeiture laws, taxes and so on.  It was no surprise states such as NY, MD, MA, CA and others came in as the worst and were losing population and businesses as result.  Case in point some argue is how NY recently lost Amazon because of its high taxes.

Overregulation is a job killer and again, the above mentioned states take the prize for such measures.  U-Haul found San Francisco was losing more citizens than any other city in the United States due to its excessively high real estate prices and high numbers of homeless and trash/human waste filled strewn streets.

Americans are moving specifically to escape states that are going down the tubes politically, culturally, and economically.  It is no surprise that highly corrupt, high tax states such as IL and NY top the states with high exodus numbers.  IL not long ago had to issue IOUs to its citizens for income tax refunds!

California’s zany liberal politics and unending illegal immigrant influx are driving white middle class flight to states such as AZ, ID and Texas.  It is still home to far Left liberals who flock to Hollywood and Silicon Valley, huge supporters of socialist-Democratic policies who can afford the high taxes and will hire illegals.

There’s even a group, ConservativeMove.com, which assists people to move to more conservative parts of the nation, especially ID and North Texas, areas it considers best to raise a family or to start a business.

At one time I would have suggested MI but it has fallen prey to Democrats and its infrastructure resembles a 3rd world country and the cost of living here is frightful with the highest auto insurance in the entire nation, the 9th highest property taxes and some of the highest water rates in the country and it boasts some of the worst roads I have ever traveled on [worse than Ohio or Colorado even though each of those states has similar winter weather].

The Freest States in the Union

The Cato Inst. ranks every state for freedom based on numerous criteria for both economic and personal liberties.  In its Freedom in the 50 States report for 2018, Florida came out on top as the freest state in the union.

The 2018 edition of Freedom in the 50 States presents an updated ranking of the American states based on how their policies promote fiscal, regulatory, and personal freedom. The authors have gathered data on more than 230 variables to measure freedom now and in the past. They go beyond describing policies and analyze why some states have smaller and better governments.

Government intrusion into one’s life is rapidly escalating and in many cases, becoming nightmarish, a scene out of 1984 in some instances.

Florida came in as the top state, New Hampshire as number two, Indiana, Colorado, Nevada, N. Dakota, TN, AZ, KS and SD rounded out the remaining top 10.

The LEAST free included NM, RI, DE, OR, MD, VT, NJ, CA, HA, and NY – no surprises there.  Our family once owned real estate and business interests in some of those lesser free states and have since rid ourselves of them, not wishing to enrich those states in any fashion!

Florida does especially well for retirees having no income tax [half of US states don’t tax Social Security benefits and 12 do not impose taxes on retirement income at all!  Those include:

·         AK

·         FL

·         IL

·         MS

·         NV

·         NH

·         PA

·         SD

·         TN

·         TX

·         WA

·         WY

Finally, speaking of freedom-Ever get tired non-stop repressive, Left-wing media hammering away at Trump and the ideals of mainstream America?  I know I do.  I stumbled across a new site which is laying the groundwork to become perhaps a new gateway for conservatives online for news and more.  Learn more at:

Here’s my idea for a new bill

Since term limits never seems to gain any traction perhaps we should entertain the idea of zero pay for elected officials after their third term in office…give them their office, expenses, health insurance while in office and a living allowance only=much like our Founding Fathers and see how many decide to remain in office.

Here are some other ideas I have…

Perhaps we need to resurrect a new version of ‘war’ bonds, perhaps calling them “government bailout bonds” to help pay off our national debt and/or to help pay for our massive deficits and proposed new spending projects since fewer foreign nations are buying our debt!

An idea I've suggested before: Eliminate ALL city/state & Federal taxes on the 1st $25K of income for all people. 41% of citizens pay no Federal tax, many city/state taxes are killers for many. Tax laws that encourage more US manufacturing/jobs & elimination of red tape would help too.

Institute for Local Self Reliance

ILSR champions local self-reliance, a strategy that underscores the need for humanly scaled institutions and economies and the widest possible distribution of ownership. Through our work across the economy, we seek to empower communities to take charge of their own future.

Most people have become so dependent on technology that they’re not even a little prepared for a true survival situation, let alone attempting to survive it without any traditional survival gear.

In a situation such as a natural disaster, terrorist attack, or economic collapse where you are stranded away from your home and without any gear, you will have to find simple, everyday items and figure out how you can use them to survive.

For example, can you get a fire going without a lighter? Would you know what to do if you got a flat tire? Or if someone a deep cut and you don’t have any first aid supplies? If not, then you should find the hacks in this article very useful...

Over the weekend I conducted an experiment by displaying emergency preparedness equipment & supplies at a local flea market to see if they’d sell.  I always find it amusing when TV news show flocks of people stripping supermarket shelves bare of essential items bare because few ever think ahead to have anything on hand for emergencies.

My books, knives & some gear sold out…radios and emergency 72-hour food packs didn’t sell.  Overall I was pleased and may do this again.  Of course, my readers can still find these items at my storefront [but due to postal/UPS fee hikes], I may pull the food stock off soon as these spike continue to hurt small sellers…

Finally, grab an emergency power cell or solar/battery radio weather radio!

Having the Patriot Power Cell on-hand for emergencies keeps your essential electronics up and running in case you need to call for help.

“The Cell is a workhorse of power — it’ll charge your phone soup to nuts 3 to 8 times… I think of the Patriot Power Cell as “everyday prepared.” Awesome for travel or avoiding inconveniences while saving your bacon in an outage. It’s a MUST HAVE for your survival lineup."

I do recall that "unscientific" analysis you did about those states and found it ironic that many of them such as NJ & MD were among our original colonies & have no become amazingly anti-freedom-just pitiful. This article was very useful as I'm in the process of completing the fixup of my MI house in order to mover. MI has been hijacked by idiot democrats and is too damned expensive especially in areas of property taxes, water bills and especially auto insurance - the HIGHEST in the country and our idiot legislators are slaves to special interests, refusing to do a damned thing about for more than 40 years so screw them, I'm out of here!

If 'wretched gretchen', our governor, has her way with her new 45 cent a gallon gas tax & other follies while doing nothing [again] about our ludricrous massive auto insurance rates, I'll be looking for a way out of MI too-the cost of living here plus the recent take-over by dingy Dems is driving everyone I know crazy!
