The rate of change we're currently experiencing is profound.
Our
standard way of doing things--whether that's conducting business, taking care
of our families, or simply getting around our cities--is being turned upside
down.
One area of life remains the same
however…Prepping!
Prepping can be
expensive if you’re buying huge boxes of freeze-dried food and the latest survival
gadgets. But if you buy a few small items every week for several years,
eventually you’ll have everything you need to survive a disaster (short of
something apocalyptic like a nuclear war).
In this article,
I’m going to prove my point by listing 50 items for less than $5 each. Many of
these aren’t normally thought of as “preparedness items,” but nonetheless they
are things you’ll want to have during a long-term disaster, so even if you
already have some of them, it can’t hurt to have extra.
The new year has just begun, so here’s what I suggest if you’re a
brand new prepper. Every week, buy one of these items along with a day’s worth
of food for your family...

If you’re reading
this, you probably already know the importance of studying
books about emergency preparedness and survival, so I won’t bore you with a
long intro about why you should read. Instead, I’ll just briefly explain how I
came up with this list.
Over the past 8 years or so, I’ve read and enjoyed about 1/4 of
these books. The ones I haven’t read were either recommended by experts I trust
or have at least 4.5 stars on Amazon with at least 20 reviews (as of this
writing), so you can rest assured that these are all high-quality books.
For your convenience, I organized the list into the following
categories...

The older I get, the more things change. One thing that seems to remain the same however: so many stupid people who never learn from the past about being prepared for hard times!

The changing tide of human existence is both exhilarating and frustrating. As the world around us evolves, the quality of our lives can be in constant flux. The value of our possessions can rise and fall, the comforts we seek can become out of reach, and the more dangerous parts of our world can become more accessible. In the end, there is a feeling of loss, and a yearning for stability. But there is also a sense of freedom that comes from knowing that we are able to shape our future, and even our destiny.
