A Digest of Urban
Survival Resources
Variety of Prepper Resources
Recently, I spent a ton of time searching for an outdoor storage unit
for our mini-farm only to discover most units in the 8x8 size were sold out…my
search included Menard’s, Home Depot, Loews & more. I looked for resin or wood. Everyone told me to expect even HIGHER prices soon.
Two local retailers had waiting
periods of up to 16 weeks before an order would be available. We wound up choosing a nice 8x10 wood barn-style
structure with a metal roof [from an Amish builder], available in six weeks…that includes delivery to
our farm!
Now we know what everyone
spent their Biden Bucks on!
Earlier I wrote that inflation was a concern. We've
just recently received the inflation rate for March. It was at an annual rate
of 2.6%. Up from 1.2% for all of 2020. (source: USInflationCalculator.com)
You take steps to protect your investment and retirement
accounts. You don't own fixed rate long term bonds or bond funds. They will
lose value due to the increase in prices and higher interest rates. You'll want
to make sure that you own some assets that will increase in value in an
inflationary environment. Think gold, silver, natural resources.
Not only do you need to manage your assets, but you also need to
manage your debts. Inflation actually benefits the debtor. The money that you
borrowed yesterday is worth more than the money you'll pay back tomorrow…
get your debts under control or you could be facing a real problem
in a few years. One way to do that is to read the ebook How to Conquer Debt No Matter
How Much You Have. It's a
wonderful tool for anyone who's tired of letting debt run their lives.
We probably have a little time before inflation really ramps up.
But as the country reopens after COVID, there will be increased economic
activity and demand. That will add fuel to the inflation fire!
STOCKPILING FOOD NOW FIGHTS
INFLATION
If you are brand new to prepping and want to start
stockpiling food, it can be very difficult to get started. They say you should
store what you eat, but what if most of what you eat is fast food, frozen
meals, and other foods that have to be kept in the refrigerator? Won't that be
a problem if the power goes out?
That is just one of the many overwhelming thoughts that new
preppers have to deal with. They have to find foods that are affordable, have a
long shelf life, and won't be too difficult to cook in a grid-down scenario.
It's easier said than done if you've never thought about it before.
In my opinion, a good way to get started is to simply copy
what someone else has done. Get two weeks of food in your pantry ASAP (because
you never know when a disaster will strike), and later you can start tweaking
your food supply to better fit your family's needs...

Building a
survival pantry is an essential step for all preppers, but how are you supposed
to stock your survival pantry on a tight budget? Stockpiling feels like an
expensive adventure, but it’s also an essential part of preparing for disasters
or serious situations. Feeding your family is vital.
Before you begin to stockpile, think about what is needed the
most: calories. Plan for each of your family members to use around 2,000
calories per day; kids eat less, but it’s best to plan for this amount. Extra
food is better than not enough.
Chances are, if you’re in a disaster situation, you will burn more
calories than usual. Multiply 2,000 calories by the number of people in your
family. A family of six needs 12,000 calories per day. Then, multiply that by
however many days you want your preps to last...

Critical Race Theory: What It Is and How to Fight It
The following is
adapted from a lecture delivered at Hillsdale College on March 30, 2021.
Critical
race [Stupidity] theory
is fast becoming America’s new institutional orthodoxy. Yet most Americans have
never heard of it—and of those who have, many don’t understand it. It’s time
for this to change. We need to know what it is so we can know how to fight it.
In explaining critical race theory, it
helps to begin with a brief history of Marxism. Originally, the Marxist Left
built its political program on the theory of class conflict. Marx believed that
the primary characteristic of industrial societies was the imbalance of power
between capitalists and workers. The solution to that imbalance, according to
Marx, was revolution: the workers would eventually gain consciousness of their
plight, seize the means of production, overthrow the capitalist class, and
usher in a new socialist society. . . . continue

Disaster
Preparedness for Families
There are the, for lack of
a better word, glamorous aspects to preparedness. You know, killing zombies,
helping Will Smith stop an alien invasion or getting your “Red Dawn” on. But
preparedness has a less sexy side, and that is bad weather or general mayhem.
Recently, we were prepared to weather a storm that turned out to be for naught,
but it was comforting to be ready. And the kids got to play along... Full Article
