200 Items You Can Barter After The Collapse

...Consumer debt is at an all-time high due to inflation and our proclivity to accumulate debt for Christmas.  Barter may prove helpful after the crash that is predicted to hit next year...

Imagine a scenario where cash has become worthless. It could be hyperinflation, where it takes a wheelbarrow of cash to buy a loaf of bread. Or it could a devastating act of terrorism such as a bioweapon or an EMP that sets the country back 100 years. Whatever the cause, there could come a day when our money becomes useless.

And it won't necessarily be a nationwide disaster that causes this to happen. In a local disaster such as a powerful hurricane or earthquake, the power will be out which means the banks will be closed. And if they don't reopen, there won't be enough cash to go around.

In any of the above scenarios, people will be forced to barter with one another until power is restored or a suitable currency emerges. In case that ever happens, it's a good idea to have a wide assortment of barter items. That way if someone has something you need, you're more likely to already have something they need...

What are the best barter items to stockpile?

Food is the second most important bartering item you can stockpile. As with water, every human needs food to survive. The biggest issue with food will be spoilage, so don’t spend too much time thinking about fresh greens and gallons of milk. Focus your attention on calorie-dense and processed foods that can last years.

The term barter is defined by Merriam-Webster as the exchange of goods, services, or commodities.

Bartering dates back thousands of years and was the primary form of trade until currency was implemented. When we think of it, it sounds like such ancient practice— after all, we’re living in the age of digital innovation and unbelievable technological advancements. Nearly 92% of modern currency is not handled in physical coins or bills anymore, but rather digitally, such as through cell phones, credit cards, and crypto.

But believe it or not, bartering is not just a thing of the past. During the Great Depression bartering was popular because people didn’t have money. In our present day, it’s widely used in the farming and homesteading industry as well as within prisons. Now that our world is faced with widespread unemployment and the possibility of a massive recession, it should come as no surprise that bartering could begin to resurface as a common way of life until the economic situation normalizes.

The best bartering items for any disaster situation are food, water, and medical supplies. Everyday necessities will also be highly sought after for trade.

In a post-collapse world, the most valuable items will be things that other people are likely to not have enough of. In this article, we’ll discuss what those high-value bartering items are and how you can use them to barter when the time comes.

Most Wanted Bartering Items

·         The best bartering items are those that are needed by many and in high demand. Many of these items will be the same for everyone, but high-value bartering items can vary depending on location. For example, furs and thick coats might be of higher value if you’re in the middle of an Alaskan winter when SHTF than they would be in Florida in July.

·         Ask yourself what your neighbors are most likely to run out of first when disaster strikes. Stock up on those items as well as the items on this list.

·         It should go without saying, but make sure you have enough of all of these items for yourself before you start stockpiling for bartering.

1. Water

·         Water is the most essential item that can be used for bartering when SHTF. The average person can only last between 3 and 7 days without water. It’s essential for staying hydrated and maintaining hygiene, and anyone trying to grow crops or keep livestock will need a lot of it to keep operating.

·         Desperate people will trade just about anything in exchange for clean water, which is why it’s one of the most valuable items you could possibly have stocked up for a SHTF scenario.

·         If you live in an area with a lot of rainfall, consider collecting rainwater in barrels. If you live in a drier area, you can buy large jugs of water and stack them wherever you have space in your home or in a protected structure like a shed on your property.

·         If you want to really expand your bartering power, invest in a water filtration system that will allow you to filter rainwater, groundwater, and water from local streams and lakes. Similarly, you can stock up on water purification tablets, desalination kits, and water filters to barter.

·         Here’s an article to help you store your water long-term.

2. Food

·         In disaster situations, food is one of the first things to disappear as supply chains halt and people are left scrambling at the grocery stores. Once the shelves are empty, people will be desperate to feed their families.

·         If you want to be a successful barterer, stockpile high-demand, nutrient-dense, and non-perishable food items. This means items like canned foods, dried rice and beans, powdered milk, protein powder, and MREs. Here’s a list of survival foods that may be useful for bartering.

·         If you have the ability and space to grow fresh food, stock up on seeds like carrots, wheat, and potatoes that you can harvest and trade. Even if you end up not being able to grow the produce yourself, the seeds will be valuable bartering items themselves.

·         In the same vein, if you have room for a chicken coop on your property, now would be a good time to start raising chickens. They will help your garden thrive and their eggs will be incredibly valuable for bartering in a post-collapse world.

·         3. Medical Supplies

·         In any disaster situation, medical supplies will be in high demand because with disaster often comes injuries and medical emergencies. And as time goes on, medical supplies will continue to be necessary as your fellow post-collapse citizens need to treat injuries, prevent infection, and care for sick loved ones.

·         If you can stockpile medical supplies, you’ll be able to barter for just about anything you need. Here’s a list of some of the most valuable medical supplies:

How to Get Online When You're Off The Grid

Going off-grid and disappearing into the wilderness are two very different scenarios. Some people envision it as completely isolating yourself from society. But for others, it has a different meaning—one where a melding of the old world and new world work better together.

Many people who choose to go off the grid do so with the mentality that they want the internet for various reasons, whether it be keeping in touch with family, running a business, or using it for research and homesteading purposes.

When you go off-grid, you still maintain a connection to civilization, you provide yourself with the means of living, primarily heat, water, electricity, and of course, the internet...

Tried inquiring via our local Neighbors site if any barter groups existed; apparently, only on Facebook & as you know, we won't support that communist Zuckerberg!

Zuckerberg of FB is a communist:
-Wants to name his 1st born after Mao
-Has 10 Communist Chinese on his board
-funded $300 million to anti-American-Conservative groups
-Censored conservative stories including the Hunter laptop story
This is why I won’t support this rat!

Does anyone barter? We do & find it rewarding & helpful for our own self reliance.

This is a foreign concept to most young people; few are taught to think outside the box.
