For obvious reasons, a
lot of people are VERY worried about what's going to come next
in our country.
We went from a life-changing
pandemic to looting, destruction, and chaos...
...to a disputed election and MORE riots and chaos.
Over the last few
months, a lot of Americans did the only thing they could to protect their homes
and businesses from the rampaging crowds coming down the street:
They picked the gun
stores clean, emptying the shelves
of guns and ammo, and arming themselves to survive.
It's worse than ever out
there now, with one gun store reporting that it sold out of thousands of rounds of
9mm ammo in just 30 minutes.
Quoting Cesare Beccaria from his work On
Crimes and Punishments and Other Writings, Thomas Jefferson once
said, "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are
neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse
for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage
than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater
confidence than an armed man."
The Chappell Hill Bank located just north of Houston, possibly the
oldest continuously operated bank in America (it didn't close on President
Franklin D. Roosevelt's bank holiday in 1933) took that message to heart.
It had been robbed five times in its 100-plus year history, most
recently in March 2010. Bank President Ed Smith didn't want it to happen again.
To send this message to would-be robbers, he took down the "No
Firearms" sign posted on the bank's front and posted the new policy on the
front door. "Lawful concealed carry permitted on these premises.
Management recognizes the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as an
inalienable right of all citizens. We support and encourage the carrying of
licensed concealed weapons."
The policy applies to his tellers as well as customers. Several
tellers are licensed to carry.
The bank hasn't been robbed since. A number of new customers from
parts all over came on board in response to the policy and it got attention
worldwide. The Russian media called them "the crazy Texans."
People often ask why I'm such a staunch advocate for gun rights,
why I believe so strongly in the 2nd Amendment, and why I close my preparedness
articles with the words, "store ammo and guns." There are many
answers, but the above example is one. Forewarned is indeed forearmed.
However, protection from criminals is not the reason the 2nd
Amendment was included in a Bill of Rights that outlines the rights all people
are born with. Nor is hunting. The Founding Fathers sought to ensure there was
no mistaking that Americans would always have the ability to defend themselves
from a tyrannical government and that no laws could be passed that
"infringed" upon that right.
Besides, in a free society, a business should be able to engage in
a voluntary transaction or contract, or not, as the owner sees fit, just as the
customer has the ability to choose whether to purchase a good or service from a
particular business. If a business wants to refuse service to a person wielding
a gun, good for it.
Likewise, if a business wants to encourage exercising existing
rights, the business should have that right as well.
Years ago, in ruling in Maryland, a Federal judge struck down a
State requirement that individuals prove they have a "good and substantial
reason" for seeking a handgun carry permit. Judge Benson Everett Legg
ruled: "A citizen may not be required to offer a 'good and substantial
reason' why he should be permitted to exercise his rights. The right's
existence is all the reason he needs."
I shouldn't need any reason whatsoever for supporting the 2nd
Amendment. Bearing arms is my right. Further, I have had enough of the politics
of "gun control" — a heinous term that purports to make it ok to
limit my right to bear arms. Why not call it "gun freedom?" The gun
grabbers give themselves away.
Those on the Left want power so much they think it's OK to win by
taking away the right to bear arms and constantly talk about "gun
control" in every election. They are not American. They would be more
comfortable in England or Australia.
Here's a question for those Leftist politicians: Why do you
continue to try to disarm Americans — or restrict which weapons they can own —
and deny them their ability to defend themselves against thugs, robbers or
oppressive government while you have armed al-Qaida-affiliated terrorists in
Libya and Syria, giving them automatic weapons, rocket launchers, etc., which
Americans cannot own without jumping through legal hoops, if at all?
The very idea that the elected class would think terrorists are
more deserving of possessing weapons than law-abiding American citizens is not
just downright weird; it's criminal.
The right to own a weapon is a natural right. That right is
codified in the 2nd Amendment which is only 27 words long, is written quite
clearly and has stood (somewhat) for almost 223 years. If Leftists consider abortion
"rights" as "settled" and established law — a law that
appears nowhere in the Constitution — then it's time the gun grabbers accepted
The Bill of Rights as established law and left it alone.
Yours for the truth,
Bob Livingston

Strikeman Laser Firearm Training System – Karen Hunter Review |
|
The rising cost and
scarcity of ammunition is a hardship effecting all gun owners. Most people
are choosing to forego live fire training to preserve their ammunition. I
cannot disagree with this logic, but training is a must, especially for newer
gun owners. I want to introduce you to the Strikeman Laser Firearm
Training System. |

Concrete has
been around for thousands of years, and it’s been used to build some of the
most durable and iconic structures ever known to man. But did you know that the
concrete used by the Romans in the ancient days was far more tough and durable
than the concrete that we use today? After all, there’s a reason why the old
Roman structures are still standing over two thousand years later.
It’s
actually the Romans who are credited with first discovering concrete. Roman
concrete is essentially a mixture of volcanic ash and rock with limestone, such
as the kind found in ordinary seashells. This concrete was not only used to
construct some of Rome’s most famous buildings, but it was also used to create
structures along the shoreline and in harbors where it has resisted the nonstop
assault of saltwater waves for thousands of years.
Let’s put it
this way: Roman concrete is the most durable kind of concrete, and what’s
better, is that you can make it on your own with little more than limestone (or
seashells), volcanic ash and rock (such as pumice), and basic tools like a
concrete form and tamping tool...
