Ensuring Your Personal Safety, Privacy and Security

If all you did was read the headlines in the mainstream news, you'd think everything was peachy -- nothing but sunshine and blue skies ahead.

But don't be deceived!

There are MAJOR economic problems lurking under the surface. Most people don't know about them because main stream news won't address the real issues [they act more like Hollywood gossip rags].

Fortunately, a few "in the know" people ARE talking about these problems. And they're trying to help as many people get prepared as possible.

For example, one stock market analyst says we’re in "The Most Dangerous Stock Market in U.S. History."

Not only that, insiders and hedge fund managers are dumping stocks as fast as they can… auto loan delinquencies are at their highest levels since 2009… and the U.S. is staring down the barrel of $20 TRILLION in debt.

This will NOT end well.

Building a strong personal defense that safeguards what you already have should be one of your top priorities.

This includes risk prevention and increasing your freedom.

It ensures that everything you’ve worked for - and will achieve - over your lifetime is safe, no matter what.

Here are the four most important steps everyone should consider taking
.

Step #1: Get some physical cash
This is one of the most critical strategies for your Plan B-- and also one of the easiest to implement.

If something happens in the banking system, and all of your money is trapped in the bank, your savings effectively become worthless.

With current interest rates nearing zero, you are not going to be worse off for having some physical cash.

To ensure you are protected, take out and store at least two months’ of expenses in physical cash as a crucial hedge against emergency situations.

There is almost no cost to doing this, and it is a complete no-brainer, given the state of most western banking systems.

Click here to read more about why you should consider getting some physical cash.

Step #2: Protect a portion of your savings in a strong, well-capitalized foreign bank.
As you probably already know, most major banks in the US and across Europe are poorly capitalized. In most cases, they hold less than 3% of customer deposits in cash.

That means if just 3% -- just 3%! -- of customers went to the bank and withdrew their funds, these banks would have to start fire-selling assets in order to stay solvent.

It’s clear that holding 100% of your assets in such a fragile a banking system isn’t the safest strategy.

Consider moving a portion of your savings to a highly liquid, highly solvent, conservative bank in a country that is backed by a government with no debt.

Step #3: Purchase precious metals and make sure you store them offshore

While physical cash and an offshore bank account is a great hedge against short-term problems in the banking system, keeping precious metals is a long-term hedge against more serious, systemic challenges in the monetary system.

If governments continue printing money to the point of serious inflation (as witnessed in Venezuela, Zimbabwe and the Weimar Republic), you will own real assets that will protect your purchasing power.

I also strongly encourage you to consider storing your precious metals offshore to protect yourself from confiscation, frivolous litigation and social unrest.

Step #4: Obtain a Second Passport (potentially for free)
A second passport will provide you the lifelong benefit of more options when it comes to living, working, investing, traveling, and doing business around the world.

That way, when things go south, you can go north. You can immediately, legally and effectively take yourself and your family out of harm’s way.

There are four ways to obtain a second passport: Flexibility, Money, Time or Ancestry.

Your first step should be to look into the ancestry option. If you have grandparents (or even grand-grandparents) from certain countries (such as Italy, Poland, Hungary, Greece and many more), you might be eligible for a second passport by descent.

This is by far the easiest, cheapest and quickest option for most people and should be your very first starting point.

And if you find that you are not eligible for such a passport, you should consider obtaining a legal residency in another country.

As a resident of a foreign country, you still gain a lot of the benefits of a second passport, and oftentimes can even obtain one after a few years of naturalization.

Some countries don’t even require you to spend any time in the country.

It is really a no-brainer solution.

You can
learn more in our in-depth article on The Four Ways You Can Obtain a Second Passport.

And to take action, you can
download our premium intelligence report “Four Second Passports ANYONE Can Obtain”.

Step #5: Protect your assets from frivolous creditors
A good asset protection strategy is like putting ‘the club’ on your steering wheel.

There’s nothing that’s going to discourage a truly determined thief… but most of the time when they see how protected you are, they’ll just move on to an easier target.

For example, it’s possible to establish trusts and LLCs in certain jurisdictions (both foreign and domestic) whose laws make it very difficult for frivolous creditors to steal what you’ve worked so hard to build.

Ambulance-chasing attorneys know that it’s too costly and difficult to go after assets held in those types of structures, so, like a common thief, they’ll typically just move on to an easier target.

In addition to being a deterrent, a good asset protection strategy also reduces the impact in case that a common thief actually does try to steal from you.

Holding some assets in a protected structure or location ensures that, even if a court seizes everything within its jurisdiction to satisfy a judgment against you, you’ll still have a rainy day fund set aside.

The bottom line...
These are no-brainer strategies that can be implemented at very low cost, and they will provide you with a strong foundation that ensures you are in a position of strength-- no matter what happens next.   One thing the United States hates [and dictators throughout times] are citizens who have privacy…governments work hard to ensure no citizen has it.  Our own government has violated its own Privacy Act of 1974 with the enacted of the vile mis-named Patriot Act which utterly destroyed all remnants of privacy that US citizens had.
Guarantee Your Privacy For FREE

"Privacy is the fountainhead of all rights," Edward Snowden said during his livestream at a panel discussion on privacy at the University of Arizona.

Without privacy (an extension of property rights), all other rights eventually fall by the wayside. When governments begin to ski down that slippery slope by violating the privacy of its subjects (see: citizens), it’s hard to reverse the course.

Fortunately, you have a say in the matter.

You have options for permissionless privacy to protect what’s yours.

Today, along this vein, we’re going to show you a FREE way to guarantee your privacy online today -- in less than five minutes.

The First Amendment is the Right to Privacy

Dangerous Digits

Our privacy is constantly under attack via our computers and other technological devices, and the risk has drastically increased in the last few years because of our dependency on handheld devices. Cybercriminals know how much Americans rely on their smartphones and have figured out ways to steal your personal information simply by accessing your cellphone number.

It amazes me how many people eagerly share their cellphone numbers with retailers that claim they don't use this information for marketing purposes. While that may be true, we have seen hackers break into the databases of major companies like Citigroup and Yahoo and release the personal information of millions of customers, including phone numbers.

Text messaging is another way hackers can gain access to your phone. The same way criminals send phishing emails containing links to dangerous websites, they can also send text messages with similar links asking you to confirm your phone number. If you click on them, you may be giving the hacker complete access to all the personal information stored on your smartphone without realizing it.

Consider how many accounts your cellphone number is associated with — bank accounts, social media sites, corporate rewards programs and any online retailers with which you’ve made purchases. Now imagine a cybercriminal getting their hands on all the information in those accounts just by having your phone number.

Dictators HATE this VPN!

You might be familiar with ProtonMail. If not, it’s an excellent email service which uses end-to-end encryption. Meaning, it’s built in such a way that those who run ProtonMail don’t have access to their users’ information. This also means they can’t hand over your information to third parties.

Furthermore, their software is open-sourced, guaranteeing there are no backdoors for snoops to slip through.

ProtonMail is brought to you by a group of really smart people, most of whom met at CERN and MIT who have uncompromising views on protecting civil liberties online. As a result, ProtonMail is the world’s largest encrypted email services, used by millions across the world. Journalists, activists and dissidents trust it when privacy is a matter of life or death.

Swiss-based

Their headquarters are in Switzerland, which has some of the world’s strongest privacy laws. The Swiss are also outside of EU and US jurisdiction -- and they’re not part of the Fourteen Eyes.

No data logs

The ProtonVPN team has no logs of its customer’s surfing history. They don’t track or record, nor do they have the capacity to do so. Thus, they are unable to disclose such information to third parties.

TOR VPN

ProtonVPN can also integrate with the TOR network. It takes just one click to route your traffic into the TOR network and access “Onion” sites.

Automatic kill switch

Some VPNs have leakage issues where they lose connection to the network and your IP address leaks through. ProtonVPN has an auto kill switch which cuts your connection if connections to private networks are lost.

It’s easy to use

I downloaded the software and in just a couple of minutes and a couple of clicks, I was “dark.” My Internet connection was protected from the snoops.

It’s FREE

Basic ProtonVPN connections are absolutely free. While they have a paid plan with advanced features, their basic service will remain free for anyone to use.

You can surf privately and securely in just five minutes from now without paying a dime.

Cybercrime is a big problem — and it’s only going to get bigger. But most Americans don’t take cybersecurity seriously enough.

Creating strong passwords… enabling two-factor authentication… using a VPN when surfing public Wi-Fi… being smart when it comes to sharing on social media…

These practices should all be second nature to you, just like locking your doors and wearing your seat belt. They’re designed to protect your privacy and safeguard your personal information — and they’re just plain smart.

Click on the article above to find out why most people aren’t taking the necessary steps to avoid becoming an online victim. Then make sure you’re doing each of the things above so you won’t be one of them.

How much emergency food do you need? »
The amount of food we need changes based on what our goals are. In modern prepping the line between what we need and what we store is blurry. Just because a can of dried fruit has the words, "Emergency Food" on the label does not mean it is the type of food you need in an emergency.

Since we cannot get what we like, let us like what we can get…Spanish Proverb

Your Private data is bought and sold by business to marketers and to Big Brother…

I gave up using credit cards or any kind of credit nearly a decade ago.  Paying cash for everything, including our mini-farm has made it a slower process to achieving what I want, but even without mortgages, car loans and other debt, it is tough enough to keep up with government mandated expenses such as taxes, fees, insurances, etc.

I don’t use so-called ‘Smart phones’ and other devices which allow companies and government to track me…call me old fashioned but I sleep better at night as a result!

We all leave a trail of digital breadcrumbs. Each credit card transaction, Google search, Facebook post — It’s all information that businesses can use to predict your behavior.

Analytics companies then tally up those predictions and give you a “consumer score.”

Data brokers even sell lists of rape victims and AIDS patients, other medical problems…

You likely know about your credit score -- that key measure that influences everything from your monthly car payment to your ability to buy a home. But there are dozens of other consumer scores that are impacting your daily life that you have no idea about.

Data brokers, analytics firms and retailers are creating hundreds of "secret" consumer scores that rank you on everything from the likelihood you will keep your job to how likely you are to commit fraud, according to a report released Wednesday by nonprofit World Privacy Forum.

Marketers, financial institutions, wireless phone service providers, law enforcement agencies and others use these scores to do everything from promoting new products to investigating crimes.

Yet, while these consumer scores are pervasive, most consumers don't know they exist. Rarely are they able to view their scores, find out how they are compiled or used or correct inaccuracies like they can on a credit report, the World Privacy Forum found.

Common Credit Misconceptions

Most of us aren’t clueless about credit scores, but we may be making costly mistakes. A recent annual survey by Consumer Federation of America and VantageScore Solutions about consumer credit knowledge found that a “large majority of Americans know a great deal about credit scores.”

But it also identified some common misconceptions about credit that often trip people up. Here are three of them.

1. How Inquiries Really Work

When someone requests your credit report, or a credit score generated from your credit report data, an inquiry is created on that credit report. Multiple recent inquiries may cause your credit scores to drop. But there are different types of inquiries, and some don’t affect your scores at all.

According to the credit knowledge survey, only 7% of respondents knew that multiple inquiries will not lower one’s FICO or VantageScore credit score if those inquiries are made during a one- to two-week window.

In the case of FICO scores, inquiries from auto loan, mortgage or student loan applications are counted as a single inquiry if they occur in a two-week or 45-day period (the exact time period depends on which version of the FICO model is used). In the case of the VantageScore, there is a rolling two-week period in which any inquiry of a specific type is counted as one. (Unlike the FICO model, this one also applies to credit card-related inquiries).

28 Credit Secrets They Don’t Want You to Know-Free from the Poor Man Survivor crew!

Who’s Looking at Your Credit Scores

In the credit knowledge survey, consumers were asked which of the following six types of businesses might use credit scores:

  • Credit card issuer
  • Mortgage lender
  • Landlord
  • Home insurer
  • Cellphone company
  • Electric utility

Only 18% of millennials, and 32% of older consumers, correctly identified the fact that all six of these businesses may check credit. While most consumers understand that credit card companies and mortgage lenders use credit scores, fewer understand that utility or cellphone companies may run credit checks, usually to determine whether prospective customers must pay a deposit. (Cable companies also check credit to decide whether to collect a deposit.)

3. The Money You Can Save With Good Credit

No doubt you’ve heard that a good credit score can save you money. But it’s easy to underestimate how large that amount can be.  More at:

Keeping a low Profile-You are being watched

It’s become a real challenge to keep a low profile from various government authorities.  With various agencies offering rewards for those who turn you in for “offenses” such as taxes, construction without building permits, having offshore bank accounts, doing business ‘off-the-books,’ and more, what’s a citizen to do while simply trying to be left alone?

One of the main ways to stay out of trouble with government agents is to keep a low profile, i.e., stay away from those situations wherein you call attention to yourself. After all, if they don't know about you, they can't attack you. Here are some practical methods to use to keep a low profile.

It is not necessary, nor is it desirable, to fight the bureacrats on every front. If you do that, you will just gain a reputation as a "radical" and the effectiveness of your fights will be diluted. If you are going to fight a battle with the bureaucrats, you should pick an area where you have a good chance of winning and a venue where you can get some favorable publicity. This means learning all you can about the area before you start the fight and it means making sure you are in a good position, both lawfully and legally. But mostly it means to figure out a way around the problem rather than attacking it head on.

Offshore assets. The IRS is increasingly obsessed with tracking down and taxing the income earned on assets held in offshore bank and securities accounts. As of the beginning of the year, the IRS now has 800 new employees trained specifically in international issues. Along with the Justice Department, the IRS is aggressively pursuing these accounts.

Exit the system. Quit your job, rescind your Social Security Number, cancel your drivers' license, move into the hills, and start living off the land. This is not a method that most people will select although it is a very effective method. But, remember the law of survival. By exiting the system, you will be significantly reducing the odds of passing on your genes.

Become a Permanent Tourist. You can become a temporary resident of a country and then move on to another country before you have stayed long enough to be considered a permanent resident. Most countries treat visitors much better than they treat their citizens so this can represent a significant increase in your personal freedom. The method requires some manipulation of the passport system and it does mean that you will not be able to "settle down" but it does work. If you are interested in looking into this method further, you can find more information in "The World Citizen Ideas of Garry Davis". Don't forget to come back here when you're finished.

Go Offshore. Going offshore means to keep all or part of your assets in financial organizations in a country different from your country of residence. For example, if you live in the US, Canada would be offshore for you. (Although I don't recommend that you put your assets in Canada, either.) There are advantages and disadvantages to going offshore. An advantage is that your assets are managed under the laws of the offshore country which usually give a huge advantage to offshore assets. Unless there is a tax treaty between your country and the country where your assets are, your financial affairs will not be reported to your home country

How I brought my electricity bill down to $5

Lifestyle blogger shares the details of her energy-efficient lifestyle.

Of course, I had to see how my energy usage compared to the average American. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, “the average annual electricity consumption for a U.S. residential utility customer was 11,040 kilowatt-hours (kWh), an average of 920 kWh per month.” However

Another essential emergency tool you should consider is a treadle (pedal) sewing machine. Not only is it useful for your own needs – it could even provide a source of barter/income in a pinch.

The Nanny State Updates…

Internet and Free Speech under attack by Congress

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) would give the federal government the ability to potentially shut down millions of websites.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin, is alarmed that SOPA would give the U.S. government the power to censor search results without even having to go through a court trial....

"Imagine my astonishment when the newest threat to free speech has come from none other but the United States. Two bills currently making their way through congress -- SOPA and PIPA -- give the U.S. government and copyright holders extraordinary powers including the ability to hijack DNS and censor search results (and this is even without so much as a proper court trial)"

The government should not take our property away without a fair trial.

But now SOPA would allow the U.S. government to hit Internet websites with a "death penalty" without even having to go to court.

Many believe that the language of the new law is so vague that it would allow the government to permanently shut down any website that even links very briefly to "infringing material". Prominent websites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube would be constantly in danger of being given a "death penalty". The American people need to ask their members of Congress this question: Do you plan to vote for SOPA (The Stop Online Piracy Act)? If the answer is yes, that is a clear indication that you should never cast a single vote for that member of Congress ever again.

Canned goods were invented in the 1880s. The whole process of canning in bottles dates back to the great work of French confectioner and Chef Nicolas Appert, who perfected the process in 1810.

The Parting Thought – the folly of voting

"On 'Lost Freedoms in America‘...

"Like in Star Wars when Queen Amadaula says, 'So, that's how freedom is lost...with cheers and applause.'

Start a Peaceful Revolution - Don’t Vote (for democrat or republican)

Most Americans are scratching and clawing and doing whatever they can to make a living these days…but they’ll continue to re-elect the same wolves.

I’ve repeated this mantra for nearly every national election.  No one ever listens.  For some reason, the masses still think a vote for the lesser of two evils (which it usually winds up being) will somehow change things in America for the better.

It hasn’t and it won’t.

About 85% of elected politicians get reelected.  This means the same foxes are guarding the henhouse and nothing ever changes. Voting for either party during the past 30 years or so, has proven itself dangerous to the country and particularly, to the middle class.

Most political campaigns don’t offer any real solutions, just mudslinging.  Not one elected politician seems to have solved any of the problems we face such as our insane income tax system, ending the Fed, ending government growth, illegal immigration, fostering a better job creation environment, ridding our country of excessive bureaucratic red tape, etc.

I fear Thomas Jefferson was right when he said, "The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground." That's what's happened. Bush and Obama doubled spending and increased regulation. Government's intrusiveness is always more, never less. The state grows, and freedom declines."

Despite the promises made by politicians, is our country any better off?  Is your family any better off? Do we have more freedom or less today?

The decline of the middle class is not something that has happened all of a sudden. Rather, there has been a relentless grinding down of the middle class over the last several decades. Millions of our jobs have been shipped overseas, the rate of inflation has far outpaced the rate that our wages have grown.

Today, only 55.3 percent of all Americans between the ages of 16 and 29 have jobs.

Since the year 2000, the United States has lost 10% of its middle class jobs.

If you think the status quo of either party has been good for the country, then go out and vote.  If, on the other hand, you feel neither party has led this country on a socially viable path, don’t vote.  If enough people didn’t vote, or at the very least, dropped their membership from the two parties, perhaps they might actually wake up to the national dissatisfaction most of us now feel.

Do we need another year of mud-slinging, no solution political campaigns? Instead of inspired leadership, we’ve been lead on a path of destruction.  I say what we really need is another revolution.  Our suggestion has always been, do what you can to become less dependent on the system!
