“Watching middle-class conservatives vote for politicians who've proudly pledged to screw them and their children over fills me with the same exasperated contempt I feel for rabbits who zigzag wildly back and forth in front of my tires instead of just getting off the goddamn road.”
Tim Kreider, We Learn Nothing

Citizens Have Rights – Don’t They?

Obama wants to look like a man of the people, saying he supports NSA reform. While at the same time, his administration keeps pushing policies in support of mass surveillance.

Reporters revealed that Obama bureaucrats are putting pressure on local law enforcement agencies. They want these agencies keep quiet about the tech they use to gather information.

Obama is speaking out of both sides of his mouth. On one hand, he “welcomes” a discourse on government surveillance. While on the other, he is hushing any local public officials who might talk about the actual, practical aspects of such programs.

Obama's people have even gone so far as to meddle in public records requests. In several cases, police departments have withheld documents – documents they would normally release under public records laws.

Have You Heard of Stingray?

Stingray is just one of the technologies that the Obama administration is trying to keep a lid on. Let's take a look at what it really is.

This bit of snooping technology mimics a cell phone tower. When it does, your phone shares a wealth of information with the fake tower, called a Stingray. The Stingray collects this information without the help of cell phone service providers.

You don’t even have to make a call or send a message for it to figure out that your phone is in the vicinity, and that it belongs to you!

Not a lot of other details are available about Stingray technology. In part because of federal pressure to conceal how the technology is used and how it works.

An AP request for more information about which police departments use Stingray technology fell on deaf ears. No information has been given.

As usual, government officials are hiding behind the all-too-familiar “security” excuse. They argue that keeping the technology secret is the only way to protect against terrorists and criminals.

Citizens have the right to know when and how the government is collecting data on them. And never mind the real question at hand here, which is "Does the government have the right to gather such information about its citizens without a warrant?"

Be Part of the Push Back

The NSA surveillance scandal has turned into a full-fledged debacle. The NSA is plowing ahead with its massive data-gathering programs despite public outcry. And Obama's administration has called for only small changes to the program.

In the meantime, in response to public outcry, the House of Representatives passed a reform bill, though it was watered-down.

Senator Rand Paul joined with two other senators in a statement protesting the House version of the bill. They stated it did not offer “meaningful reform.” To contact your Congressman and let him know how you feel about meaningful NSA reform, visit this site to get his/her information.

Senator Paul is not the only one disappointed in the House's version of the bill. Several tech giants including Apple, Microsoft, and Google joined together in calling for the Senate to do more to put an end to bulk data gathering by the NSA.

Many citizens are taking matters into their own hands. They are attempting to start a movement among Internet users to use stronger encryption and better passwords— anything that will make the NSA’s efforts to data gather more difficult…FRANKLY, We’re tired of an out-of-control BIG NOSY BROTHER government prying into our lives – Our message:  STAY THE HELL OUT OF OUR LIFE!

Our analysis has shown few Americans care about their liberty and privacy – many are blind, dumb and stupid to what is going around them. But for those who do care, you’ll find useful resources offered at:
