How Do Americans Spend Their Monthly Income?
LendEDU compared each
generation's average monthly budget and found boomers spend a lot on credit
card debt, while millennials save quite a bit for retirement despite larger
student loan payments.
After
taxes, what is the average American’s monthly income? And, perhaps more
importantly, how is that income spent? Finally, how does this differ from
generation to generation?
LendEDU
looked to answer these questions by surveying 1,000 adult Americans about what
their monthly take-home pay is and how those dollars are spent on things like
mortgage or insurance payments, and living necessities like groceries.
The
results produced some data points that you would expect; for example,
millennials are paying the most each month towards student loans, while that
debt is nearly nonexistent for baby boomers.
But
there were also some surprises that go against the traditional narrative,
including millennials being the most actively involved in everyday investing,
while also still equaling Generation X’s monthly retirement contribution
percentage.
Let’s
get into the data.
The data: how Americans are
spending their monthly income, including a generational breakdown
(Results
are based off an online survey of 1,000 adult Americans that was commissioned
by LendEDU and conducted online by Pollfish. Generational breakdowns were done
according the latest information from Pew
Research Center.
Silent generation respondents were grouped with baby boomers, while Generation
Z respondents were grouped with millennials due to a limited sample size for
the silent generation and Generation Z.
Reverse Age-Related Frailty With
These Five Nutrients Targeting Key Deficiencies Can Keep You Strong and Robust
As You Age
Getting
older is one thing. Feeling and looking older is something entirely different.
I’m 66 years old, but I’ve never let that stop me from doing the same things I
loved doing at 56 or 46. But as many as 25% of adults over 65 are at risk of
losing their ability to do the things they love… and their independence.
Using data from the Irish Longitudinal Study on
Ageing, researchers found that low levels of five specific nutrients are
associated with frailty. This was the largest study to date to show the
connection.
These are the five key nutrient
deficiencies:
• Lutein • Zeaxanthin • Vitamin D • Vitamin
B12 • Folate.
If someone had
low levels of more than one of these nutrients, they were likely to have more
severe frailty. It makes sense that these particular compounds would impact
something like frailty.
For example, lutein and zeaxanthin are
important for eye and brain health. Vitamin D impacts muscle strength, bone
health and mood. And B vitamins like B12 and folate are critical for DNA repair
and energy metabolism.
I’m always
encouraged when I read studies like these. They show that a condition like
frailty — something that impacts a quarter of elderly people — is not
inevitable. You can make sure you stay strong and robust by getting more
nutrients like these in your diet and through supplementation. Reverse

PARTING THOUGHT
If you listen to the bubble-headed malcontents who prattle on
about current events in the national media — William Safire's "nattering
nabobs of negativism" — and the socialist Democrats vying for the
presidency, you likely think that the Ku Klux Klan is making a comeback, a
Grand Kleagle is whispering in the president's ear, and white supremacists are
on the verge of taking over American institutions.
President Donald Trump rode to the presidency on a wave of
pro-America-first, anti-immigration and anti-Hillary Clinton sentiment. Clinton
was promising to destroy jobs by destroying the fossil fuel industry — coal and
natural gas jobs in particular — and to usher in a new wave of
wage-suppressing, nation-diversifying immigrants.
A foreign
super-government now has the power to regulate what you can and can’t see on
the internet.
Following
a controversial court ruling that garnered almost no major media coverage in
the United States, foreign bureaucrats won the power to censor free speech on
social media sites.
And,
things are only going to get worse from here…

In a bugout
scenario, you are likely to spend a lot of time in your vehicle as you travel
from one destination to the next.
This means a vehicle well-stocked with survival supplies is
one of the most important components in a bugout plan – and food is the most
essential supply that you can stockpile.
Before you start tossing groceries into
the trunk of your car, it’s important to note that not all foods are great for
storing in vehicles. For example, chocolate protein bars are great meal
replacements, but the chocolate is likely to melt and get all over the place.
A food that is good for vehicle storage
needs to have a long shelf-life, have lots of nutrition, and be easy to
prepare. With those qualifications in mind, here are 17 emergency foods that
you should keep in your vehicle...
