“What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the
homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of
totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty or democracy?”

Grocery prices are becoming ridiculously
high even for basic items such as milk, eggs and butter [forget steak which is about
$10 a pound at our local Kroger]. When butter
reached $5 a pound that was it for me.
Homemade
Butter Like the Amish
Homemade butter like the Amish make is a simple delight.
Making butter may be easier than you imagined. The Amish use a butter churn
because they are making butter for the whole community -- or at least a large
family. For what you will be using at home, you can make butter in a mixing
bowl or covered jar. Once you find out how easy it is to make and how great it
tastes, you may never buy butter from the store again.
>Pour the heavy cream into a mixing bowl or a jar (if
a mixing bowl is not available).
>Mix the cream with the whisk attachment on
medium-high speed, or alternatively shake the jar with the heavy cream
continuously.
>Stop mixing or shaking when you see the butter
starting to solidify and separate from the liquid.
>Pour the contents into a strainer with a bowl
underneath it. The liquid will be fresh
buttermilk. Store the buttermilk in the refrigerator.
>Rinse the butter with water to remove excess liquid,
then put it in another bowl and knead it with the spatula, bringing the curds
together. Add salt to flavor while kneading the butter.
Put the butter into a sealed container and store in the
refrigerator
Constructing a Medium Sized Biogas Plant Using Kitchen Waste
Long back I have posted
an instructable on how to construct prototype of a Biogas plant, using 50 liter
capacity tank as digester, which you can see here : http://www.instructables.com/id/Bio-gas-plant-usin...
That was my first
instructable and people are still commenting and asking me for guidance on
Biogas plants for home use and for demonstration at schools & colleges. I
have replied and mailed guidelines to almost all of the queries and I hope that
helped them in their quest for building their Biogas plant.
Toilet Paper, etc.
I got tired of too small rolls of toilet paper and the
prices that I was paying for them. Then a friend who works in a big office
building suggested that I find my local janitorial supply store. Most of these
stores sell to the public. Since those bathrooms get more use, they buy bigger
rolls. And they're also more concerned with price, so you'll save a few
dollars, too. You can also find other household cleaning products at greatly
reduced rates.
Flea markets and swap meets are
big business these days. Television programs like Flea Market
Flip and Storage Wars have catapulted the reseller industry. Before you start a
flea market business however, there are a few things you should know.

Chock full of goodies as usual Mr Poor Man!
A goat would be useful and produces a gallon of milk per day which can be used as butter, cheese, etc. and far easier than raising cows.
